Pedagogue and middle manager at Herlevgård – close to the children, close to the professionalism

Are you an experienced and professionally strong pedagogue who can both develop pedagogical quality together with others and take responsibility for the daily organization? Then it might be you we are looking for.

We are seeking a pedagogue for a position that combines daily work in a children's group with practice-based professional development and middle management.

Who are we?

Herlevgård consists of two houses with their own everyday life, history and culture, but with a strong common pedagogical stance. We have a good share of educated pedagogues with long experience here at Herlevgård, and a solid professional foundation. We have a safe collaboration that we both value and want to develop.

We work from a relational and everyday anchored pedagogical stance. We see children as active co-creators of their own everyday life and are focused on creating conditions for all children to belong, have meaning and participate in communities with others.

We have prioritized play as a central part of the children's everyday. At the same time we know that adult-initiated activities are important for children's development. Therefore we want a daily life with a good balance between the children's own initiatives and the experiences, activities and communities we as adults bring into play.

For us it comes together when play and adult-initiated activities become prerequisites for each other. When shared experiences give new life to play, and children's interests inspire us to new activities and explorations.

We prioritize time, calm, presence and continuity and know that pedagogical quality requires both professional knowledge, judgment and a strong collaboration.

A position with several perspectives

You become part of a children's group in either our kindergarten or nursery team, where you actively participate in the daily pedagogical work together with your colleagues.

At the same time you become part of Herlevgård's management team, which today consists of the day-care manager Jane and the middle manager Katja.

There is weekly time set aside for professional sparring in the management team, where we together examine practice, share perspectives and discuss the professional and organizational priorities.

With us leadership is close to practice. That means you must be able to be an active participant in the children's everyday life, work exploratively with development of pedagogical quality and take responsibility for the daily organization.

We view organization as a significant part of pedagogical quality. Therefore you must also be able to work with schedule planning, staffing and the ongoing priorities that create good conditions for both children and staff.

Developing practice in practice

We want to develop our pedagogical practice from within and together. Therefore we have both leadership, speech pedagogues and professional beacons close to daily practice and the professional development work.

We are seeking a pedagogue who can observe and describe what happens in everyday life, identify patterns and opportunities and together with colleagues translate professional reflections into concrete actions.

It could be about investigating child communities, developing play zones and learning environments or working with organization and adult positions so that more children have good opportunities for participation, play and deepening.

We also work on ensuring that employees' individual preparation time contributes to our shared professional development.

For us professional development is something we create together through observations, reflections, trial actions and an ongoing curiosity about what practice calls for.

An everyday life with the whole city just outside the door

Herlevgård is located close to Herlev Town Center with good playgrounds, parks, library, fountain, cool manhole covers you can explore with the children, and a community house with theater and music.

We have buses, train and light rail close by. And then we have a fantastic blue bridge from which we have a wonderful view over Ringvejen! Here we can in just a few moments wave to big cars, buses, light rail and ambulances on their way to the hospital, while we follow all the people and different machines moving around us.

The city is part of the children's world and an inexhaustible source of curiosity, conversations, shared experiences and new play.

We are also close to the area's schools, with whom we have a good collaboration. It gives us good opportunities to create coherence and recognizability in the children's transitions from day care to school.

Who are you?

First and foremost you are a skilled and experienced pedagogue with a strong professional foundation and experience in creating and developing pedagogical quality together with others.

We imagine that you

• have a sharp eye for children, relationships, communities and pedagogical learning environments.
• can translate professional knowledge, observations and reflections into concrete pedagogical action.
• have experience taking professional responsibility, creating followership and driving development together with colleagues.
• can create overview, organize and prioritize in a daily life where many considerations must be balanced.
• are clear, curious and investigative and can stand in different perspectives and disagreements.
• have a desire to be an active part of the children's everyday life and take co-responsibility for Herlevgård's overall development.

You do not necessarily need to have been a leader before, but we expect that you have experience taking responsibility and willingness to step forward when leadership is needed.

Salary and employment

Salary is set according to applicable collective agreement and the principles of new pay. A child and criminal record check will be obtained for employees who are employed in the day-care institutions in Herlev Municipality.
