About the job

Do you want to help create the future DUS in completely new pedagogical frameworks at Sofiendalskolen?

Then read on…

At Sofiendalskolen we are in full swing to develop our leisure and teaching environments – both through large physical renovations and through new pedagogical strategies. Now we are seeking a skilled, ambitious and well-educated pedagogue for the school's youngest special class, whom we hope will be a part of that journey.

As something truly unique, we work in DUS with swimming and virtual golf as learning and inclusion activities – and we actively participate in Erasmus+ projects, where we share and gain inspiration from schools abroad. It gives you the opportunity to become part of both local and international development tracks.

We are looking for you who have an eye for both the child and the community.

We are seeking a pedagogue who has a strong special education profile and a desire to create participation opportunities for all children. With us you will meet students with different prerequisites and needs. Therefore it is important that you see the person before the diagnosis and meet each child in an acknowledging manner – even when everyday life is challenging.

You will become part of a learning environment where clear class leadership, structure and calm contribute to giving the children security and direction. The task requires that you can maintain an overview in complex situations and keep a level head when pressure rises. We work with a neuro-pedagogical approach, and we hope you want to contribute to it and help translate professional knowledge into motivating, practice-oriented teaching and play.

Play takes up a lot of space in work with the youngest students. We therefore seek a pedagogue who wants to enter into play and sees their ability to play with the children as one of their greatest strengths. At the same time, the job is about developing pedagogical processes that both challenge and compensate. The programs should give the students experiences and strategies that can help them succeed academically, socially and personally.

The work takes place both during school hours and in DUS. You must be able to switch naturally between supporting teaching and creating good pedagogical activities in the leisure part. You will also be part of cross-collaboration with Focus Class DUS, where ideas, engagement and willingness to try new approaches are important contributions to the community.

We place emphasis on good teamwork. This means that you are mentalizable (able to understand mental states), collaborative and have an eye for how to build shared ownership of the students' development. Humor, positivity and integrity are also part of the professional approach we want to encounter in each other.

You are a trained pedagogue and want to become part of an ambitious environment where well-being and learning go hand in hand. A diploma- or master's degree is an advantage but not a requirement. Experience from the school sector is also a plus, but the most important is your professionalism and desire for the task. The position involves at least one morning opening and one afternoon closing in DUS.

About Sofiendalskolen

We are a city school in Aalborg SV with about 700 students and over 100 staff. Our DUS (after-school program) is an important focal point of the children's everyday life, where we balance between free activities and structured programs. We work each day based on the values integrity, trust, collaboration and proactive action – values you should also see yourself in. Sofiendalskolen is in the middle of a major renovation of the entire school, and we expect our new primary school building to be ready by late 2026, with the entire construction expected to be completed in 2027-28.

You will become part of a school where we lift in unison

With us you will become part of a school in development, where academic depth, new ideas and a strong community go hand in hand. We make an effort every day to create good frameworks for the students' learning and well-being – and for a work environment where employees can thrive, develop and succeed together.

The school is undergoing a major renovation and rebuilding, which gives us even better possibilities for teaching and leisure activities. The department you join will be finished when you start. You will therefore have your everyday life in new spaces that are designed for the children and the activities you will create together.

Collaboration across teams is a natural part of everyday life. We help each other, share knowledge and take shared responsibility because we believe that children thrive and learn best when the adults around them work together. We have high ambitions, but also place importance on humor, good relationships and a positive atmosphere. Job satisfaction is a shared responsibility, and we prioritize a good working environment.

You will become part of a self-managing team and a professional learning community where you have real influence on planning and development of pedagogical practice. Here there is room to bring your ideas into play, learn from colleagues and together find good solutions for the children.

The social community also means a lot to us. The staff association arranges activities that give us opportunities to meet across and get to know each other better – also outside working hours.
