About the job

We are seeking 1 physiotherapist or occupational therapist for the Special Education Center at Vittenbergskolen, as of 1 January 2027 – the position is 32 hours per week. The position is fixed-term for a minimum of 1 year.

Are you eager to make a difference for children and young people with complex functional impairments – and would you like to be part of a multidisciplinary environment with high professional standards? Then this position may be for you.

The Vittenberg Special Education Center is a segregated offering for students in Esbjerg Municipality. The target group is students from 0th to 10th grade with extensive physical and mental handicaps and with a combination of severe social, cognitive and communicative challenges. There is an accompanying CFO.

We are seeking 1 physiotherapist or occupational therapist for a fixed-term position of 32 hours per week starting 1 January 2027. You will become part of an ambitious school consisting of many different professional disciplines. We work closely together to create development opportunities and participation for children and young people. You will perform therapeutic tasks as well as be part of a class team around a group of pupils.

The position is twofold and consists of both therapeutic professional tasks and tasks as part of the class team. Part of the working time is allocated to therapeutic interventions, while the remaining time takes place in the classroom, where you participate as an educational staff member in the daily work around the students' learning, well-being and development. This is done in close collaboration with the other classroom staff.

We are looking for a colleague with a strong professional orientation. You must be theoretically well-founded and able to translate that into practice.

It would be an advantage if you have extensive knowledge of working with children with multiple disabilities, autism, and experience in developing and working from mastery (mestringsskemaer) schemes.

In the pedagogical work, emphasis is placed on a structured and pedagogically coordinated approach to create safety and predictability for the student.

Throughout the entire special education section we have a strong focus on working with AAC (alternative and augmentative communication). Our vision is that all children have the right to a language.

We also wish to create tailored learning environments with a strong focus on body/movement and outdoor learning in teaching.

We expect that our new colleagues

  • have a strong commitment to advanced special education
  • are respectful, trustworthy and loyal
  • contribute to a daily focus on learning, well-being, care and development of each student
  • see the importance of continuous documentation and follow-up
  • can work to de-escalate conflicts using a low-arousal approach
  • are able to work independently and are ready to develop their own practice in pedagogical learning environments
  • have good skills in interdisciplinary collaboration, as well as in engaging in close parent collaboration
  • have good communication skills

You can expect to

  • meet a school with a strong focus on development and well-being
  • meet happy and expectation-filled students, colleagues and parents
  • get an exciting and versatile job with competent colleagues
  • meet a department with high professional standards, a good working environment and a strong sense of community
  • meet a wide range of collaboration partners
  • be at a workplace with opportunities for professional and personal sparring/development

If you want to know more about the position and the school, you can contact the pedagogical leader Helle Fink Lykke at tel. 27 24 22 72 or Anne Wittenkamp at tel. 40 46 03 65.
