Play and Pokémon with a curious 9-year-old boy

Do you have experience with children with special needs, and can you create clear frameworks around play and activities? Then here is a task where relationship, structure and presence are central.

About the task

You will be support for a curious and creative boy of 9 years, who loves stories, audiobooks and imaginative play. Right now Pokemon is a big interest, and he enjoys, among other things, going on Pokémon hunts and immersing himself in the universe. He also enjoys physical play and movement.

The boy has autism, ADHD, OCD and anxiety. He needs structure, clarity and predictability, and in social contexts he needs guidance and support. He can be demanding, especially if demands become unclear or too many at once. Therefore it is important that you meet him calmly and patiently and help to create manageable frameworks around your time together.

The task mainly consists of being with the boy and taking his interests as a starting point. It can be through play, movement, stories or other activities that spark his curiosity.

About you

You are not formally trained and have relevant experience with children with special needs. It is important that you have knowledge of autism, ADHD, OCD and anxiety and understand the importance of structure and clear communication.

You can work independently and make decisions during the interaction. At the same time you have a patient approach and a desire to be active and participating in the play.

Working hours

The position is 12 hours per month.

You work on Wednesdays from 14:30–17:30.
