Project Staff Member for the Church of Denmark for Internationals (FFI)

Would you like to create church-based communities for internationals? Can you create a home away from home? Do you think church and Christianity are meaningful and can contribute to a sense of belonging – also for the modern city person? Do you have experience in developing activities that bring people together in communities? Are you outgoing and initiative-taking?

Then you may be our new colleague in the project “ Church of Denmark for Internationals ,” which works to open the Church of Denmark to the capital's many foreigners, who constitute about a quarter of the city’s population, of whom a large portion have a Christian background. FFI’s current project worker has decided to try expat life abroad for a couple of years, so we are now looking for the next enthusiast who wants to take the baton for the next two years.

The Task

Our new colleague shall in close cooperation with the project-affiliated pastor contribute to developing and running church activities in English. We hold services in English every Sunday at 1 p.m. in Eliaskirken in Vesterbro. Participants are primarily adults between 25 and 60 years old and their children. In addition, FFI has communal meals, grief groups, men’s groups, choir, baby singing, toddler music and some family activities. Through these we invite the many international newcomers inside the church.

In addition to the English-speaking congregation at Eliaskirken, FFI works to spread English-language activities to other churches through networks and coordination. Concrete tasks in the position will be:

• Organization and delivery of church activities in English, including both practical tasks and relationship work
• Development of new church activities for children and their adults
• Recruitment, organization and inclusion of volunteers :
• Facilitating networks with and sparring partners for churches developing English-language activities
• Contact with key institutions and actors who also work with internationals

You will report to the board of the Church of Denmark for Internationals. Daily work is planned together with the attached pastor, who is the project manager for FFI. This is a two-year temporary position from 1/1/2027 to 31/12/2028.

The project staff position at FFI is normed to 25 hours per week. If you prefer a full-time position, there will be an opportunity to combine it with tasks in Vesterbro Parish so that the position becomes 37 hours. For example, it could relate to the parish's work for families and children. In autumn 2026 the project “Unequal Weeks” was started in collaboration with two other parishes in the Copenhagen Diocese.

Unequal Weeks is a community for families with divorce close to life – a place with room for both children and adults, good meals and meeting others who know about the same changes. We also have an ambition to start a children's group for those affected by divorce, which you can help facilitate together with the leader of the children’s group. There may also be other diaconal or educational tasks within the parish’s work for children and youth according to the applicant's interests and competencies.

In the application please state whether you are only interested in the 25-hour employment at FFI or a full-time position.

Terms of employment

Employment will be covered by the Joint Collective Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and CO10-Central Organization of 2010 and the Organizational Agreement between the Church Ministry and CO10-Central Organization of 2010 for church functionaries with core tasks such as parish clerk, parish helper/church culture worker or church musician and the accompanying protocol for parish helpers.

An allowance and obligation will be attached to the position. The Parish Council's proposed salary level is 26,006.77 DKK per month for employment at 25 hours per week (current prices). For full-time employment the proposed salary level is 38,490.01 DKK.

You must be prepared that work on Sundays and occasionally in the evening hours will be included. We will obtain a child protection certificate in connection with the employment.
