Day shifts run from 07:30 - 15:30 in a 40-hour work week. Shifts are performed with on-call from home and start from 08:00 - 16:00 on a weekday and end at 07:30 the following day. On weekends it is a 24-hour on-call from home.

About the department

In the Radiology Department at Queen Ingrids Hospital, conventional radiographic examinations, CT scans, MR scans, and ultrasound examinations, clinical mammographies and occasional fluoroscopic examinations are performed.

The Radiology Department in Nuuk has 2 Toshiba CT scanners: Aquilion One and Prime, 2 MRI scanners: 1.5 T GE Voyager and Hitachi 0.4 T Aperto Lucent, 2 Toshiba DR systems, one with fluoroscopy, a Fuji FDR Go for external imaging as well as Siemens Mammomat.

We receive staff from Denmark who come about every 6 weeks and perform mammography. Approximately 17,000 examinations are performed per year in Nuuk, and 15,000 along the coast.

We work in Sectra RIS/PACS and Cosmic EPJ. Furthermore, we are in the process of modernizing the entire department with new premises and equipment, the newest being our GE MRI scanner. We are 7 radiographers, 1-2 nurses, 1-2 radiology assistants, 1-2 health assistants, 1 health worker and 1 secretary.

It is a department characterized by a high degree of independence with responsibility and competence, as we sometimes have to be able to function without a radiologist.

In the Radiology Department here at Queen Ingrids Hospital, we place a strong emphasis on keeping the atmosphere and the social life top. When the program allows it, we do a stair-climb to the 7th floor together and share a selfie in our internal Facebook group. Otherwise we have breakfast together every Friday, organize social evenings in the coffee room or in restaurants now and then. We respect and take care of each other, and share the workload.
