Apply for the position

The Institute of Odontology and Oral Health at the Aarhus University Faculty of Health Sciences is seeking a dental hygienist for a teaching position on the dental hygiene education program as of 1 January 2027. The position is a fixed-term part-time appointment of 26 hours per week.

Your responsibilities

Your tasks will primarily be planning and performing the clinical teaching in pediatric dentistry for the dental hygiene students. Together with colleagues you will teach dental hygiene students to examine and treat children aged 0-21 years within the scope of the dental hygienist’s duties.

Teaching pediatric dentistry to dental hygiene students takes place in ever closer collaboration with the corresponding teaching for dental students, in line with The Aarhus Model of Dental Education. You will work with dental care in an educational context in a department with good opportunities for both professional and personal development. In your daily work you will have close interaction with skilled colleagues, and you will be part of a team of dedicated teachers.

The position also includes, to a lesser extent, teaching at the dental hygienist adult clinic.

The position includes development and planning of the clinical teaching, participation in examinations, primarily in courses concerning children and adolescents, and there may be administrative tasks such as being responsible for a course.

You report to the Educational Leader Ulla Bæk Lindtoft.

Your competencies

You are educated as a dental hygienist with Danish authorization and have broad experience with dental hygiene for children and adolescents. You have a high level of professional competence, particularly in pediatric dentistry, cariology and health education. You may have teaching experience, which could also be from voluntary work. Your approach to both colleagues and students is appreciative, and you possess strong communication skills.

As a person you have good collaboration skills and are flexible and responsible. You can work independently and in a structured way and you have a good overview. A hallmark is that you are positive, engaged and value a dynamic everyday life, and that you enjoy working with young people.

A police clearance certificate for working with children is a prerequisite for employment in the position.

Institute of Odontology and Oral Health

As a dental hygienist you will be employed at an internationally recognized institute where we conduct research on health and disease in teeth, mouth and jaws. We have an inspiring international research environment with specialized research laboratories, modern clinical facilities and advanced digital equipment at the institute. We educate the complete orofacial treatment team for the health service, distributed across three primary professions: dentist, dental hygienist and clinical dental technician.

We create synergies between the education programs and educate students to prevent and treat disease and to promote health in the population. At the institute we are about 300 staff and 700 students. In both research and education we work with a focus on orofacial health as an integrated part of general health, and our collaboration is based on respect, trust, recognition and professionalism.
