Regionshospitalet Gødstrup Medical Department Introductory Physician Position

You now have the opportunity to become an introductory physician in the Medical Department's fantastic framework in Gødstrup, where we offer a very good educational environment and as many as 8 medical specialties.

For the Medical Department, Regional Hospital Gødstrup, we are seeking introductory physicians in internal medicine with employment on 1 February/1 March 2027 or by agreement.

We are a large medical department covering endocrinology, gastroenterology/hepatology, geriatrics, hematology, infectious diseases, pulmonary medicine, nephrology and rheumatology.

As an introductory physician you will gain familiarity with the assessment and treatment of a broad spectrum of internal medicine patients. As an introductory physician you are typically attached to 1-2 specialties per half-year. If you have special wishes regarding a specialty, please elaborate in the application so we can take it into account when allocating specialties according to the applicant's wishes and the department's needs.

Organization and function

The department has 96 beds distributed across 4 wards: Ward for Blood Diseases, Lung and Infectious Diseases, Kidney-, Bowel- and Liver Diseases, and Geriatric Diseases. All medical specialties have outpatient functions (clinics), just as the department has a Dialysis Clinic with 36 hemodialysis beds.

Clinical research takes place within all specialties, and there is a research chief physician responsible for research in the department, as well as a research committee established across specialties and professional groups.

Work organization

Five on-call shifts have been established. From 16:30 – 08:30 the on-call is covered by two intermediate shifts, a back-up on-call, and a specialty on-call; all with presence on site:

• A preliminary on-call from 08:00 – 17:00
• An intermediate shift from 08:00 – 17:00
• Two intermediate shifts from 16:30 – 08:30
• A back-up on-call from 08:00 – 17:00/16:30 – 08:30
• A specialty on-call from 08:00 – 17:00/16:30 – 08:30

The introductory physician predominantly participates in the middle-shift team.

The clinical work, in addition to on-call duties, consists of ward rounds and outpatient functions with individual differences depending on the specialty affiliation.

Other aspects

In the Medical Department we offer a safe and challenging educational environment and place high priority on education. We hold a combined morning conference with both internal and external teaching, regular journal clubs, competence training in internal medical competencies, and skill training. The noon conferences are specialty-specific with opportunities to delve into clinical cases.
