About the job

Do you want to lead the way in strengthening research at a developing hospital?

And do you want to help set a clear direction for the research effort within common diseases in an organization with ambition and a will to invest in research?

Regionshospitalet Randers is seeking a research‑coordinating chief physician with a strong scientific profile and a desire to work strategically on the development of clinical research in close interaction with management, professors, an academic coordinator, the Research Council and clinical environments.

A strategic role with real influence

As the research‑coordinating chief physician, you will have an important and visible role in the continued development of research at Regionshospitalet Randers. You will have significant influence on how research outside the hospital's two university clinics is prioritized and organized going forward. In close collaboration with the hospital's two professors you will have an overall research‑professional responsibility to develop and support the research effort and the collaboration between the hospital's research environments.

The role includes the opportunity to participate in strategic discussions on the development of research as well as coordination of research efforts and research support.

Your areas of responsibility

In addition to the formal role as chair of the hospital's Research Council, you will have a central role in promoting and supporting the hospital's research efforts. Your tasks will include:

  • to help develop and strengthen the hospital's research effort through contributions to the research strategy, strategic advice to management and a focus on strengthening research outside the university clinics
  • to coordinate and consolidate research activities across the hospital by supporting new research environments and promoting cross‑hospital research collaborations
  • to contribute to visibility, engagement and recruitment within research by acting as a sparring partner for research‑active staff and managers and support a strong and coherent research culture at the hospital

You will have a good opportunity to contribute to both the strategic development and the ongoing strengthening of the research culture at the hospital.

A research environment in development

At Regionshospitalet Randers we have high ambitions for research in the common diseases that affect many citizens. We are purposefully building strong and attractive research environments and we want to be known for our results, research collaboration and strong professional communities.

The hospital is currently consolidating a new organization of the hospital's research support, where you will have an important role in the strategic discussions about research. You will become part of Research Support, and you will have a coordinating and unifying role with regard to the hospital's research efforts.

Research Support consists of

  • a research‑coordinating chief physician ( this position )
  • a senior researcher in professional education, who will be your close collaborator
  • an academic coordinator as liaison to Aarhus University
  • two AC staff members who support the research‑coordinating chief physician, the senior researcher, the academic coordinator and the research work across the hospital

Thus there is both organizational support and the competencies to support the research work.

You will, in the role of research‑coordinating chief physician, report directly to the hospital leadership.

Framework for research and the role

The position as research‑coordinating chief physician constitutes 20% of a total clinical position at Regionshospitalet Randers and thus presupposes that you are already employed at the hospital.

The role is designed as a cross‑cutting strategic and advisory function that supports the development of research at the hospital, while you maintain your clinical and research grounding.

We are seeking a profile who

  • will contribute to driving an active and inclusive shared research environment at the hospital
  • has experience in conducting clinical research and an interest in strengthening collaboration and research development across the hospital's clinical and academic environments
  • has strategic understanding and the ability to develop research initiatives across specialties
  • can build relationships, motivate and engage colleagues in research
  • thrives in a role with collaboration, sparring and coordination

In the role as the research‑coordinating chief physician you will receive

  • influence on the continued development of research at an ambitious regional hospital
  • a unifying research‑professional role in the Research Council and in Research Support
  • real influence on research priorities and organization
  • close collaboration with professors, a senior researcher, the Research Council, the academic coordinator and hospital leadership
  • an opportunity to support the development of new research environments
  • an opportunity to combine the role with your own research and clinical activity
