About us

The Establishment and Terrain Command is responsible for the construction and operation of the Ministry of Defence's properties, areas and exercise areas used for military purposes across Denmark, including the Arctic.

The Administration Department handles corporate responsibility for management and advisory services for the maintenance and development of the professional authority responsibility in the areas: Planning, Environment, Nature and Energy, and therefore plays an important role in increasing the operational capability for the forces in connection with the implementation of the settlement projects.

The Administration Department consists of six professional, dynamic sections, all of which have broad interfaces with the Ministry of Defence's other agencies and authorities, NATO, other Nordic and Baltic countries, as well as external partners.

We place great emphasis on professional sparring, knowledge sharing and development of task execution, which is generally characteristic of our daily work.

We work purposefully to prepare for the initiation of many projects, including projects related to the defense agreement, which can only succeed through a joint effort across stakeholders and with a focus on credibility and resolve.

About the position

As Head of the Administration Section, you will report directly to the office head of the Administration Department, and you will be responsible for leading 16 dedicated professional staff distributed across three teams in close coordination with the other subject-responsible sections within the areas: Planning, Environment, Nature and Energy.

You will be responsible for the section's professional task execution in relation to operating and developing the Ministry of Defence's environmental and energy management system and coordinating the Establishment and Terrain Command's strategic efforts within the areas: Planning, Environment, Nature and Energy. This also includes the preparation of the Ministry of Defence's climate accounts and other annual reports on the environmental and energy management area.

You will furthermore contribute to communication and coordination of the necessary authorities' permits in connection with the area-specific settlement projects, where coordinating the cross-cutting dialogue with supervisory authorities and ministerial departments, as well as ongoing reporting to stakeholders, is essential for success in the position.

About you

We imagine that you have experience as a manager or leader within authority handling in the planning, environment, nature or energy area, but that you have a relevant academic degree, such as engineer, lawyer or similar.

You have strong leadership skills and are a generalist with solid theoretical and practical expertise within the authority field. It is essential that you can motivate contributors and prioritize efforts in a busy day-to-day environment.

It is desirable that you have experience working in a politically led organization, and that you can operate in the tension between political and professional leadership, external authorities and interest organizations, as you will often need to participate in discussions and negotiations on professional topics of significance to the Ministry of Defence's activities.

A substantial portion of the tasks are solved with input from external advisors, which is why it is important that you are good at collaborating with advisers on the need for authority handling.

You should expect travel within the country and to a lesser extent abroad. You must have a valid category B driving license.

Employment terms

The appointment is made in accordance with the current agreement between the Ministry of Finance and a number of academic associations for academics in the state (the Academic Agreement).

Depending on your qualifications and competences, there is the possibility of negotiating supplements. There is an employer-financed pension scheme attached to the position.

The workplace is in Nr. Sundby.

As an employee within the Ministry of Defence's area you are subject to certain special terms. This means, among other things, that you must be security cleared and maintain this throughout your employment.

You as an employee are obliged to render service outside the country's borders, including at units in international operations with a view to participation in conflict prevention, peacekeeping, peacemaking, humanitarian and other similar operations.
