About the job

Do you want to set the professional and strategic direction for the treatment of affective disorders? Are you passionate about evidence-based psychiatry, clinical leadership and a strong multidisciplinary work environment? Then you may be our new leading chief physician.

We are seeking a visionary and clinically well-founded specialist in psychiatry for our two affective inpatient wards S7 and S8, which are both specialized open wards where we primarily treat patients with depression and bipolar disorder.

About the job

As the leading chief physician you will be responsible for the medical leadership of the area, which includes, among other things, that you will have a particular role with respect to supervision and guidance of the wards' junior doctors. In addition you will share responsibility for the overall operations, goal attainment, research, education and professional development together with the chief head nurses and other relevant leaders.

You will play a central role in the professional development of the area in close collaboration with the chief head nurses and the Department Leadership.

We place a high priority on professional development and therefore, in cooperation with the department’s clinical professor and the Unit for Psychiatric Research as well as the department’s other research-active staff, there is ample opportunity to plan research projects.

The department has a well-established research environment in affective disorders, which you are thus also expected to actively participate in. In addition, the entire department has many junior doctors and students, and you are therefore expected to participate in teaching activities in relation to this.

Finally, you will naturally have an important role in the wards’ internal collaboration with the other inpatient wards located in the new university hospital, Hospital City, while the outpatient clinics will subsequently be gathered in a single Ambulatory House located on Brandevej – located in Aalborg East. The latter is expected to be fully implemented in early 2027.

As the leading chief physician you will furthermore have a particularly close collaboration interface with the other leading chief physicians in the department’s other areas as well as the department’s education team, especially the physicians responsible for education.

About you

It is a prerequisite that you are a specialist in psychiatry, have a strong professional profile and that you wish to work in an exciting position with both clinical and educational activities as well as possibly research. That you thrive in a multidisciplinary work environment with many colleagues and collaborators, have good communication skills and are able to structure your daily life in connection with the development activities – and of course you are an active team player in a changing daily life.

We expect that you have

  • Danish authorization as a specialist in psychiatry
  • Good collaboration skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to motivate and provide professional sparring
  • Ability to achieve results based on shared direction and coordination

Clinical experience and competencies within affective disorders will be an advantage.
