About the job

Do you want a job where you really make a difference – and where you don’t face the task alone?

With us you get a everyday life with time for the patients, a strong sense of community and a workplace where professionalism, security and relationships go hand in hand.

We are seeking social and health care assistants, preferably with experience from inpatient psychiatry, for the Forensic Psychiatry in Slagelse – perhaps it’s you we’re missing?

A meaningful everyday life

In the Forensic Psychiatry department we work with people who often find themselves in life situations where a lot is at stake. Our patients are admitted under a legal measure – e.g. a treatment order, a commitment order or in custody surrogate.

This means that your role is about much more than care.

You are involved in

  • creating safety in an unpredictable everyday life
  • building relationships that can make a difference
  • supporting the patient in small and large steps toward a more stable life

Some days are quiet and recognizable. Other days require calm, overview and collaboration. A common thread for all of them is that you never stand alone.

It’s in the relationships that it happens

With us the work often takes place in situations that cannot be planned in advance

  • A conversation that creates calm or motivation
  • A walk where trust and relationship can develop
  • A conflict that is prevented before it arises

We work recovery-oriented with focus on relationship, structure and patient involvement – and with a common goal of preventing coercion and fostering development.

It requires both professional and human qualities – and that is exactly why the work makes sense.

With us you become part of something

You become part of a strong interdisciplinary community including, among others, nurses, doctors, social workers and pedagogues.

Together

  • We plan patient pathways
  • We support each other in daily life
  • We prioritize both professional development and the work environment

Several of our units work with longer courses, where you get the opportunity to get to know the patients well and follow their development over time.

You’ll be well prepared

We know that forensic psychiatry is a special specialty – therefore we ensure you get a secure start.

With us you get

  • a fixed introduction program
  • a mentor in the first period
  • safety training and ongoing training
  • stable contact teams around the patients
  • opportunities for competence development and continuing education

Safety is an important part of the work – and something we train systematically and stand together about.

Who are you

You are a social and health care assistant and you want to work with people in a complex life situation.

You contribute, among other things, with observations, documentation, relationship work, medication handling and support for the patients’ recovery process.

Experience from inpatient psychiatry or forensic psychiatry is an advantage. The most important thing is that you:

  • are curious and want to learn
  • can be in relationships – even when it’s difficult
  • thrive in collaboration with others
  • contribute to a safe and positive working environment

We emphasize your approach and your personal competences – not only your experience.

A workplace with many opportunities

The Forensic Psychiatry in Slagelse consists of several inpatient wards that work closely together.

You are employed in the department and attached to the ward that best matches your competences and wishes. At the same time you get the opportunity to collaborate across and develop professionally.

We emphasize matching your interests and competences with the ward’s needs, so you have the best possibilities to thrive and develop in the job.

Practical

  • 32–37 hours per week (or by agreement)
  • Mixed shifts and weekend work
  • The position is covered by collective agreement 32.03 – Salary and employment terms for social and health care personnel.
  • Employment is conditional on a satisfactory criminal record check for public use

Application deadline: September 21, 2026

Interviews are held continuously.
