About the job

Be part of creating quality of life for children and young people with special needs

Are you passionate about making a real difference? Can you see yourself in a social-pedagogical environment where high professional standards, care, and strong relationships go hand in hand? Do you want to use your health-professional background in working with children and young people with various disabilities – and at the same time be an important part of their daily lives, development and quality of life?

The time is a little past six. One child greets you with a big smile because you are the one who brings calm and recognizability at the start of the day. Another child needs extra support to get a good start. It is precisely the small moments – the relationship, presence and professional choices – that make the big difference.

If that difference is what you want to make every day, then Posekær may be your next workplace.

So it might be you we are looking for at the Children and Youth Home Posekær.

About the workplace

Children and Youth Home Posekær is part of Child Disability in the Municipality of Aabenraa. Here live children and young people with various and complex functional impairments who need support, guidance, care and attention in their daily life.

The children have different needs and prerequisites. These may include children and youths with autism, ADHD, cerebral palsy, cognitive disabilities, general developmental disorders and multiple disabilities.

Common to the children is that they need adults who can create security, structure and predictability – and who at the same time are curious about each individual child’s communication, resources and development opportunities.

We work with habilitation and quality of life as an important starting point and aim to create a caring environment where the children feel seen, understood and valued.

About the job

As a Social and Health Care Assistant in Gul Gruppe you will be part of a multidisciplinary team where the pedagogical and health-care efforts must go hand in hand.

Some children have extensive health-care and care needs, while others require a very structured and sheltered pedagogical approach. You may thus meet children and youths with outwardly aggressive or self-harming behavior as well as children with multiple disabilities where communication, interaction and the close relationship are crucial.

That means the workday can be changeable. You must be able to move between health-care, pedagogical and relational tasks and maintain overview and calm when situations change.

Your health-care professional competence will be important in the team. We need a Social and Health Care Assistant who can both contribute to concrete health-care task solving and help strengthen the health-care awareness and quality around the children.

You must be able to act in the moment and at the same time have the desire and ability to reflect afterward with your colleagues on events, behavior and context.

Your tasks

You will among other things

  • Manage and support the health-care tasks around the children and contribute to high quality and patient safety
  • Create structure, predictability, care and developmental opportunities based on the individual child’s needs
  • Actively participate in the pedagogical daily life and be able to see the pedagogical possibilities in care and nursing situations
  • Work with action plans, goals, observations and daily documentation
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues, the health-care team, therapists, management and other relevant professionals
  • Actively contribute to a trustful and respectful collaboration with the children’s parents

We offer

With us you get

  • a meaningful and challenging job where your professional skills make a tangible difference for children and youth
  • a multidisciplinary work community with dedicated colleagues and opportunities for health-care sparring
  • a thorough induction program, so you have the opportunity to get to know the children, colleagues and our professional approaches
  • training in LA2 – Low Arousal 2 and introduction to neuroaffective developmental psychology based on Susan Hart’s theory
  • supervision by an external psychologist and ongoing opportunities for professional reflection and sparring
  • an workplace where we actively work with development, learning, work environment and strengthening our shared professionality

Our educational initiatives are an important part of the professional development in Child Disability. Through LA2 we systematically work to prevent and handle challenging situations and to learn from them. Neuroaffective developmental psychology and the neuroaffective compasses support our understanding of the child’s developmental level, reactions and needs, so we can tailor our efforts as effectively as possible.

About you

We expect that you

  • are educated as a social and health care assistant
  • can actively apply your health-care knowledge and take responsibility for the health-care tasks within your competence area
  • are relationship-focused, caring and able to create calm and security around children with complex needs
  • can work structurally and follow shared professional agreements, procedures and decisions
  • can maintain an overview and act professionally in situations where pace is high or behavior is challenging
  • value multidisciplinary collaboration and respectful parent collaboration highly

  • have experience with sheltered and structured social-pedagogical environments
  • have knowledge of LA2, Low Arousal or neuroaffective developmental psychology
