About the job

Are you a Social and Health Care Assistant, and do you want a workplace with a good sense of unity, collegial fellowship and high professional standards? Then take a look here!

If you are passionate about working with the elderly patient group, and you want the opportunity to use your skills in both the somatic and the psychiatric field, then N4 is the right place for you. Here you have the opportunity to make a difference for both patients and relatives, and you will have the chance to help mentally vulnerable elderly people and their families move forward in a process where many difficult decisions about the future must be made.

You will have the opportunity to work in treatment psychiatry within a very specific niche area, which in many ways differs, but also has several similarities with general psychiatry. We can welcome you to a unique, large and exciting specialty within Psychiatry.

We are a department with a continuous focus on a good working environment, and we have all committed ourselves to some very special collaboration agreements, which are based on the ITOP values of psychiatry.

We are looking for a colleague who has experience from psychiatry and/or the elderly field, or a colleague who is keen and prepared to learn our specialty.

Your future colleagues say about their workplace

”Here there is good collegial cooperation. You can be yourself and give/receive constructive feedback.”

”We have many successes with our patients, and we succeed greatly even with the most difficult patient journeys.”

”I have been here for 3 years, and I have not yet experienced a day when I did not feel like going to work.”

”We experience approachable and listening leadership”

”We experience a meaningful daily life with the patients in focus, and where many daily activities with the patients are planned”

”There is room for development”

The practical

You will be employed with weekend shifts every 3rd weekend in 8-hour shifts, with a standard 12-week period. You will work in mixed DV/AV - with an overweight of evening shifts. The position is full-time, but we can be accommodating if you prefer a reduced hours arrangement.

You will be employed based at N4A, which is our open department, and you will have the majority of your shifts here, but you will also be employed in a cross-functional role to our sister ward N4D, which is our closed ward. Practically, this means that in connection with vacations, course arrangements, illness, or the like you may be scheduled for shifts at N4D, just as you may be asked to take your otherwise planned shift on the opposite ward if an acute need arises.

About the job

As a Social and Health Care Assistant at N4A you will have a meaningful daily life with many balls in the air, and a day where we are always challenged by creativity in our approach to the patients and their care. In nursing care for our patient group, both somatic and psychiatric issues are monitored, and there is never a day that is the same, so it is important that you thrive in unpredictable and unexpected tasks. With us you will learn to provide holistic nursing care for the elderly psychiatric patient.

You will work with de-escalating nursing care and prevention of coercion. You will work with patient involvement both in treatment and nursing care for the elderly psychiatric patient, and you will work cross-disciplinary both internally in the department and with regard to the primary sector. If desired, there is an opportunity for development and further education in the future.

About you

We wish that you are educated Social and Health Care Assistant, and that you are motivated to work with elderly people. You understand the importance of a good working environment, and you want to contribute to it. You must thrive with having many balls in the air.

We are looking for a colleague who is curious and solution-oriented, and who emphasizes dialogue and cooperation both with patients, colleagues and management. A colleague who is both stable and flexible. A colleague who is professionally engaged and interested in contributing to the department’s development. A colleague who can maintain an overview in pressured situations.

About the department

Department N4 is an intensive bed unit for elderly psychiatric patients and has a regional function. The department consists of an open and a closed ward, as well as an outpatient clinic and 2 mobile teams.

We have acute function, and can have 18 patients admitted. Of these, 2 beds can be converted to high intensity. In the department we have attached an occupational therapist, physiotherapist, activity staff, social worker and doctors. The nursing staff consists of nurses, social and health care assistants and educators. We are housed in the same building as the Elderly Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic, and we have a close collaboration with them, and are under the same management.

We educate both SSA students and nursing students, and take great pride in receiving and guiding both students and apprentices. As an employee in elderly psychiatry it is required that you, in collaboration with clinical supervisors and student supervisors, contribute to this task. We consider it a major factor in ensuring recruitment of new staff and good future colleagues.

We are in Elderly Psychiatry divided into 2 pillars. An affective pillar (N4A) and a dementia pillar (N4D). At N4A, where the position is vacant, we primarily admit patients with affective disorders and/or mild to moderate dementia. In addition, we see many patients with psychotic symptoms and socially unresolved issues. At N4D, primarily patients with dementia diagnoses and related severe behavioral disturbances and/or mental disorders are admitted. The position is based in N4A, but since you are employed in a cross-functional position, you will also have to be prepared to take occasional shifts on N4D.

The nursing care at N4A is organized with TEAMS around the individual patient.

We prioritize an Introduction Program and mentorship, and we are a workplace with opportunities for professional and personal development.

We offer

We can offer an exciting and challenging job in a department where there is influence and high professionalism. You will have capable colleagues to spar with, and you will be surrounded by management and colleagues who are passionate about the specialty. We emphasize having a good and varied daily life, where we all take responsibility and look after each other well.
