About the job
SoMe-employee for Museum Vest
Museum Vest is full of good stories, and now we are looking for a SoMe employee who can tell them vividly and engagingly - especially through short videos for social media.
You will create content that makes more people want to visit our museums. It could be videos where zoo keepers talk about the seals at the Fisheries and Maritime Museum, archaeologists show finds from Viking Ribe, interpreters open the history to guests, or small moments from the museums' activities, exhibitions and daily life that get to live on social media.
An important part of the position will also be to create content about the Fisheries and Maritime Museum's development into Denmark's Museum of the Sea. The museum will be rebuilt and renewed with new exhibitions and new experiences for guests in the coming years.
We are looking for you who have professional experience with video production for social media, can see the good stories, can ask the right questions and get your colleagues to feel comfortable in front of the camera. And you should also want to put yourself in front of the camera when it makes sense for the story.
You will become part of a small communications department where we work closely together, help each other and have a short turnaround from idea to action. Here you will have a central role in translating ideas and stories into content that works on social media.
This is a three-year project position.
About the job
Your main task will be to ensure an ongoing and stable production of content for Museum Vest's social media, particularly for the Fisheries and Maritime Museum's and Ribe Viking Museum's channels.
You will also work with content related to the development of Denmark's Museum of the Sea. In the first instance, it will mainly involve communicating the process, the narratives, and the changes that occur along the way. In the longer term, the project will occupy more space as new exhibitions, experiences and audience stories need to be communicated.
You will work closely with the other staff in Communications, but also with interpreters, animal keepers, archaeologists, museum curators, hosts and other colleagues across the organization.
You will, among other things
- plan content in collaboration with the rest of Communications
- keep track of the content calendar
- plan and run content meetings with the museum's other departments
- coordinate recordings and participation with colleagues across departments
- capture current stories as they arise
- produce and edit video, photo, stories and reels
- write texts and prepare content for publication on Facebook and Instagram
- help with other communications tasks, e.g. newsletters, website content and ad hoc tasks in the department
About you
You have solid experience with recording and editing video for social media used in professional contexts, and you can show examples of content you have produced.
We also value that you
- can work independently with content while aligning with the direction we set in Communications
- have an eye for target audiences and adaptation of content and messages
- are curious, proactive and good at collaborating with many different colleagues
- work in a structured way and can manage several productions at once
- are comfortable putting yourself in front of the camera when it makes sense for the content
It is an advantage, but not a requirement, if you also have experience with photography, graphic formats, Meta Business Suite, newsletters, website updates or communication within the cultural sector
About us
Museum Vest operates five museums in Esbjerg and Ribe: Fisheries and Maritime Museum, Ribe Viking Museum, HEX! Museum of Witch Hunt, Jacob A. Riis Museum and Esbjerg Museum.
Museum Vest is an organization in development. The coming years will be particularly important because the Fisheries and Maritime Museum will be developed into Denmark's Museum of the Sea.
The museum has a national cultural-historical responsibility area that includes Danish fisheries, as well as a regional responsibility for recent cultural history in the municipalities of Esbjerg and Fanø. In the natural history area, the museum works with the Danish marine environment and the connections between the sea's organisms and human activities.
Museum Vest employs around 150 people, corresponding to about 75 full-time equivalents, and has an annual turnover of around DKK 70 million.
Salary and employment terms
This is a three-year project position.
The position is 25-30 hours per week.
Salary is determined by qualifications.
Your primary workplace will be the Fisheries and Maritime Museum in Esbjerg, but there will also be workdays and meetings at Museum Vest's other locations in Esbjerg and Ribe. Therefore, it is necessary that you have a driver's license and access to a car.
As an employee of Museum Vest, you become part of a workplace with flexible working hours, the possibility of remote work by agreement and paid lunch break. You also gain access to a staff association and free access to a long range of museums and zoological gardens in Denmark.
