Social educators sought for something truly special

Do you want to help create six new homes for adults with autism?

Some pedagogical jobs are about supporting many. Here it is about succeeding with one.

At Day and Residential Offer Gefion we are opening six new, sheltered homes under the Service Act § 108 for adults with autism spectrum disorders and significant, complex support needs.

Therefore we are looking for social educators who are passionate about highly specialized pedagogy and want to help create a new service from the very beginning.

Six citizens. Six homes. Six individual solutions.

The citizens have autism and significant, permanent functional impairments. Some may have self-harming or outwardly aggressive behavior and be very vulnerable to, among other things, sound, light, demands, changes and social contexts. Several require extensive support for communication, personal care and daily activities.

It requires something special from you as a social educator.

You must be able to create calm without freezing, be clear without being rigid and be persistent without pushing.

When a citizen reacts, we do not only ask: How do we stop the behavior?

We ask

What is the citizen trying to tell us? What became too difficult? And what can we do differently?

Here the surroundings are part of the pedagogy

The new homes are designed with the target group's special needs in mind. Citizens have their own sheltered homes, and lighting, sound, interior design, structure and sensory stimuli can be adapted individually.

The goal is not for the citizen to fit into the surroundings.

We create environments that the citizen can thrive in.

You will, among other things, be working with

• autism-specific pedagogy and individual strategies
• structure, predictability and recognizability
• visual support and individually tailored communication
• sensation, arousal and prevention of strain
• relationship work and closely tailored individual support
• professional reflection, documentation and shared learning.

We are looking for you who...

is educated as a social educator and wants to work with people with extensive support needs. You can remain calm and maintain professional overview, even when situations become demanding, and you are curious about what lies behind a citizen’s behavior.

You must be able to work independently closely around the individual citizen, but you will not be left alone with the task .

The six homes will be part of Day and Residential Offer Gefion, which is already a highly specialized autism-specific day and residential facility. You will therefore be part of a larger professional environment with colleagues and access to cross-cutting supporting functions.

Experience from the specialist field is an advantage. Your professional curiosity, stability and desire to work with the target group are at least as important.

This work is not for everyone. Perhaps that is exactly why it is for you.

📍Two information meetings will be held.

1st information meeting will be held Monday 9/11 from 16:00 to 17:00.

2nd information meeting will be held Wednesday 18/11 from 16:00 to 17:00.
