About the job

Repost

Are you passionate about working with young people? Can you contribute to a multidisciplinary collaboration with a wide range of partners, where together we will help the young people to master their own lives? If you can say yes to this, then you could be our new colleague!

Youth House and our Bottraining

You will become part of the Youth House, which consists of two teams, Bottraining and Kildevældets Acute Housing, each with 4 employees. You will become part of Bottraining, which is a residential facility under the Danish Social Services Act §107 for young people aged 18-31. We have 8 places for young people with particular challenges such as mental health difficulties, depression, anxiety, developmental disorders, including autism spectrum disorders, and some young people may exhibit self-harming behavior and complex social and emotional issues.

Our core task is, in collaboration with the young people, to develop the young people’s resources to strengthen their ability to master their own lives. We work from a recovery-oriented and rehabilitative approach with focus on citizen involvement, relationship work and the young person’s own hopes, wishes and goals for the future. In our work with the young people we use, among other things, Motivational Interviewing as a method to support motivation, development and mastering of their own life.

Responsibilities

Your task will be to motivate the young people to develop and train skills aimed at moving out to their own housing. A central part of the work is to create a safe environment and support the young people in mastering their own lives and achieving independence, taking responsibility and acting – rather than having things done for them.

The job will require that you are patient and have different approaches to creating progression among the citizens. You must be able to meet young people with mental vulnerability in a calm, validating and professionally reflective manner as well as be able to work relationship-based and mentalizing.

An important part of the job is to motivate the young people to participate in everyday life, including practical tasks, activities, work and education. You work persistently, are clear in your expectations and are able to adapt your approach to the individual young person.

Our tasks are many and varied. Therefore you must be prepared that conversations with the young people can be of an easier or a more challenging nature, and in some cases you must dare to put your relationship at stake.

In Bottraining there is a lot of collaboration with psychiatry, where our role is to be listening in conversations, to later be able to support the citizens in their treatment.

We know that a large part of the coping and the young people’s general well-being lies in belonging and contributing – therefore a large part of our work is also to motivate the young people towards work or education. We have a close collaboration with our colleagues in the Youth Unit, which among other things consists of a disability team, job center, home counselors, education counselors, etc. You must therefore be able to see the value in us pulling together, and that with good relations to each other we can go far together with the young people.

Bottraining is in a process of change, where the offering is under development. Therefore it is important that you can participate in change processes and actively participate in the new initiatives that will be implemented.

We expect from you that you

  • Are educated social worker or pedagogue
  • Have experience with or an interest in recovery-oriented rehabilitation and Motivational Interviewing
  • Have a good social understanding and sharp communication skills both verbally and in writing

  • Can maintain an overview in challenging and emotional situations

We offer

  • An Youth House with skilled colleagues, where we work solution-oriented with the young person in focus
  • A well-planned intro program where you get a fixed colleague as mentor during your start-up period.

In the Youth Unit there are about 75 employees and the unit is located in Citizen Services, Youth and Employment in Gladsaxe Municipality. We work with citizens based on a common goal of helping them into education or work and supporting them in living an independent life.

In the Youth Unit we work with a special focus on creating coherent efforts across teams, departments and administrations. We do this based on a belief that by leveraging our different professional backgrounds and creating continuity in the effort, we create a positive development together with the citizen.

We work rehabilitative and recovery-oriented and have a focus on citizen involvement. We are ambitious and concerned with how we can continuously improve for the benefit of the citizens.

The values "Decent, Shared and Professional" are our DNA, and they apply across the entire department, regardless of where you are employed. Decent, shared and professional is the way in which we meet and cooperate with citizens, businesses, leaders and employees.
