Specialist Dentist / Senior Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Department of Oral, Dental and Maxillofacial Surgery Esbjerg and Grindsted Hospital

Are you ready for a professionally challenging position as a specialist dentist/senior consultant at the Department of Oral, Mouth and Jaw Surgery at Esbjerg and Grindsted Hospital? We are seeking an ambitious and engaged senior consultant who will actively contribute to the continued development of the department in collaboration with both internal and external partners.

Position As a specialist dentist/senior consultant you have a central role in the dental group and actively contribute to the department's overall professional and organizational development. In close collaboration with the department's management you participate in task prioritization, organizational operations as well as the department's work with education and research.

The department is characterized by a strong interdisciplinary collaboration and a close daily collegial community across professional groups. You are expected to actively join this community with initiative and engagement and contribute to ongoing optimization of diagnostic and treatment with a focus on patient-perceived quality in accordance with the hospital's goals and visions. With your professional profile you contribute to strengthening the shared professional pride in the department.

Professional focus areas The department handles all tasks at main and regional function levels, and the department's core tasks are corrective and reconstructive surgery. It is expected that you have an interest in and wish to actively contribute to the development of these fields. Region dental care is also part of the department's portfolio.

Planning and task solving are done in close collaboration with the engineers in the department's 3D laboratory, and this will be a natural part of your daily practice. You will have the opportunity to participate in the implementation and further development of new methods and technologies within 3D- and AI-based solutions.

If you have an interest in oral medicine, you will have good opportunities to develop your competences in the area, as the department receives a large number of patients referred with oral medical problems.

The position is on-call free

Education and research The department has a high educational profile, where the educational task is an integrated part of the daily work with involvement of all staff. We participate in the main training of the jaw surgery trainees, and if you have a particular interest in education, the role as education lead would be a natural possibility.

The department also has a strong research profile, and it is expected that you actively participate in research projects both on your own and jointly, with opportunities for supervision. You will thus contribute to representing the department nationally and internationally.

Qualifications We are seeking a specialist dentist/senior consultant who

• has specialist training in dentistry, oral and maxillofacial surgery
• has a strong professional grounding in the specialty
• preferably has competencies in corrective and reconstructive surgery
• preferably has an interest in education

About the department The Department of Oral, Mouth and Jaw Surgery has a large treatment flow within orthodontic surgery, reconstructive surgery and oral medicine. The department also handles surgical tasks for the Regional Dental Service in the Region of Southern Denmark.

Clinical research is an integrated part of the department's work and includes, among other things, a PhD student, a research-responsible professor and a lecturer at the University of Southern Denmark.

The department has a well-established 3D laboratory, which supports virtual treatment planning and 3D printing and collaborates with both the hospital's other departments and external partners.

The department is currently staffed with chief nurse, senior dentists, specialist dentists, research and development staff, head nurse, nurses and secretaries. We are currently pausing the intake of further education students, but expect to resume this at a later date. There are five fully equipped outpatient clinics, an independent radiology department and an operating department with two operating rooms for general anesthesia. Patients are admitted to the jaw and orthopedic surgery ward.
