A clinical professorship is attached to the chair of anesthesiology and there are 3 clinical associate professorships. Trauma reception receives patients from across the region, with the possibility of assistance from all specialties.

Intensive medical therapy is provided in a specialized neuro- and trauma-intensive unit. The department uses highly specialized neuro-monitoring equipment and has close collaboration with the neurosurgical ward. In addition, intensive treatment of other specialties is provided, with focus on neuro/ortho/ENT patients. The unit is part of a cohesive intensive care network with a total of 4 units.

The department also supports satellite functions in radiology with anesthesiologist assistance for MR and CT scans, as well as neuroradiological intervention.
