About the job

Chief Physician in Emergency Medicine – for patients, colleagues and the health system of the future

Chief Physician in another relevant specialty in a maternity leave position

Are you into varied medical challenges, high tempo and lots of direct patient contact? Then you may be the new colleague we are looking for in the Emergency Department at the top of Denmark!

With us you get the opportunity to leave your mark – not only in the meeting with the patient, but also in the development of the future acute reception. And don’t worry – we have room for both you who are a trained specialist and you who are almost there.

About the job

In the Emergency Department you meet patients from almost all specialties – medical, surgical and those who don’t fit neatly into any box. The workday is varied and includes:

  • Reassessment and follow-up on observation patients
  • Reception and initial treatment of acute and critically ill patients
  • Subacute assessments
  • Supervision and sparring with younger colleagues
  • Flow management in and out of the department
  • Telemedical treatments together with pre-hospital services and municipalities

You will become part of a department where we want the acute – and where we are actively strengthening staffing and specialist coverage around the clock. With us we prioritise flexibility in working hours and professional development, e.g. via courses and relevant continuing education opportunities.

And most importantly: You will have engaged colleagues who help each other – even when things move fast.

Research and learning

We have close collaboration with Aalborg University and host medical students in clinical placement (7th/8th semester). This provides plenty of opportunities for:

  • Supervision and teaching
  • Development of bachelor and master projects
  • Participation in research projects

If you are passionate about dissemination and academic work, you will thrive here!

Who are you?

We imagine that you

  • Are a specialist in emergency medicine – or close to becoming one
  • If you are a specialist in another relevant specialty, please also apply to explore the possibility of a maternity leave position
  • Have solid skills in handling acutely ill patients
  • Thrive with responsibility and teamwork – across specialties and professional groups
  • Can keep a cool head in busy situations
  • Have an eye for patient flow and overview
  • Are eager to teach and lift others
  • Think that only good collaboration can provide good patient pathways

About the Emergency Department

The Emergency Department is an independent department with three pillars

  • Emergency reception (up to 32 reception/observation beds, 6 emergency rooms, 3 trauma rooms)
  • Emergency Secretariat
  • Physiotherapy and occupational therapy

We treat about 36,000 patients (21,000 of whom we have treatment responsibility for) per year – and admit only about half. The acute medical calls are around 200 annually. We are responsible for most acute patients – with the exception of acutely ill pediatric, orthopedic surgical and gynecological patients.

Practical info

  • Employment: during 2027 or according to agreement
  • The position is, as a rule, full-time – but we are open to dialogue about other arrangements
  • Salary, terms of employment and title: specialist with salary in accordance with the collective agreement for specialists and senior physicians
  • An annual 22,000 DKK is allocated to a personal course account
  • Interviews will be held by arrangement
