Senior Consultant in Cardiology for the Department of Cardiology, Kolding Hospital, Lillebaelt Hospital

We are seeking a chief physician in Cardiology at the Heart Disease Department, Lillebælt Hospital with main function at Kolding Hospital as of 1.12.2026 or by agreement.

The department

Cardiology at Lillebælt Hospital is consolidated into a single organizational unit with joint leadership and cardiology functions at the Emergency Hospital in Kolding and at the Special Hospital in Vejle. The Heart Diseases Department at Lillebælt Hospital has 220 staff members, of which 25 are specialist physicians, 11 of whom have their main function in Kolding. We have training doctors at all levels: pregraduate, KBU, introductory posts, and HU programs, and training is highly prioritized and evaluated.

The cardiology patients are admitted after the admission area directly to the cardiology wards around the clock. In total, the Heart Diseases Department has 51 beds available with 5,300 admissions and outpatient activity of 42,000 visits in 2023. There is close collaboration between the two sites with focus on function management, professional and interdisciplinary teams across locations, a common meeting and conference structure, and several weekly MDT conferences with Odense University Hospital.

The department's specialists collectively cover the cardiology tasks at both the main and regional function level at both sites. The regional functions at the Vejle site include coronary angiography, pacemaker implantation, cardiac MRI, GUCH, and assessment of hereditary heart diseases in formal collaboration with the Genetic Department and Odense University Hospital.

Evaluation of operable valvular heart diseases, diagnosis and treatment of uncomplicated endocarditis, and investigation for suspected ischemic heart disease with cardiac CT are performed at both sites. Lillebælt Hospital's AK-center is located in the cardiology department at Kolding Hospital with satellite function at Vejle Hospital.

The new management structure for senior physicians has been implemented with the appointment of chief physicians in department leadership with head nurses in a leading partnership. The department leadership teams participate in the department's cross-disciplinary leadership group together with the department leadership.

The position

We are seeking an engaged chief physician to join the cardiology specialist team at Lillebælt Hospital with main employment in Kolding. The chief physician should have particular interest and competence within one of cardiology's main areas, and there will be priority given to the function in the area. The chief physician should have a strong interest in coordinating the patient's care pathway.

The chief physician is also expected to participate in the department's clinical core tasks such as ward rounds, teaching and supervision, and to undertake other organizational tasks as needed.

The chief physician will join the cardiology on-call duty in Kolding. The on-call rota is 11-shift, covered by specialists and HU doctors and consists of daytime duties with subsequent on-call after hours outside the place of service every day of the week.

In addition to the starting salary, the pay may include negotiated allowances depending on the position, your experience and qualifications.
