About the job

Are you passionate about obstetrics, fetal medicine and working with pregnant women who need special attention and support? Do you want to be part of a strong professional environment where quality, development and interdisciplinary collaboration go hand in hand?

We are looking for a dedicated consultant in gynecology and obstetrics with experience in fetal medicine and/or vulnerable pregnancies for the Department of Gynecology and Deliveries at Region Hospital Gødstrup.

With us you will become part of a department with high professional standards, a strong collegial community and good opportunities for both professional deepening and development.

We believe that the best patient pathways are created in collaboration, and we place great emphasis on a working environment characterized by trust, respect, engagement and room for both professional ambitions and good collegial relations.

Would you like to make a difference for pregnant women, mothers-to-be and their families – and at the same time help develop our offerings within fetal medicine and the care of vulnerable families? Then we would love to hear from you.

About the position

You will be part of our obstetric environment, where specialists, midwives, sonographers, nurses and other collaborators work closely together to create safe and coherent patient pathways.

We manage a wide range of obstetric tasks, including complicated pregnancy and delivery pathways, Prenatal diagnostics and fetal medicine examinations. At the same time we focus on pregnant women who, due to medical, social or psychosocial conditions, require a special approach during pregnancy.

We are looking for a consultant who wishes to actively contribute to the ongoing development of our obstetric offerings with a particular focus on fetal medicine and/or vulnerable families.

Depending on your competencies and interests, there will be an opportunity to design a role with emphasis on fetal medicine tasks, working with vulnerable families, or a combination of the two areas.

You will work in close collaboration with the department's other specialists and sonographers as well as our partners at Aarhus University Hospital, where we have established formal professional sparring with the fetal medicine department.

We seek a colleague who wants to share responsibility for the development of our patient pathways, contribute to a strong professional environment and help ensure that we continue to offer high-quality care in the future.

Professional and organizational profile

Kvinde sygdomme og Fødsler (Women’s Diseases and Deliveries) at Region Hospital Gødstrup is a large and versatile department with both gynecological and obstetric functions.

The department is led by the Chief Medical Officer and Chief Midwife and is characterized by a strong focus on professional quality, development and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Our medical staff work in professional teams within acute and elective obstetrics, fetal medicine, family clinic, urogynecology and general gynecologic surgery.

We have close collaboration across specialties and professional groups and work systematically with quality, patient safety and improvement of our patient pathways.

Obstetrics and fetal medicine

The department handles annually about 3,100 births and has extensive outpatient obstetric activity with about 20,000 outpatient obstetric visits per year.

We have births down to gestational age 28+0 and a good collaboration with the Department of Neonatology and Early Birth.

In our fetal medicine unit, sonographers and fetal medicine specialists work closely together on prenatal diagnostics, ultrasound examinations and follow-up of pregnancies with suspected fetal complications. The team handles, among other things, comprehensive scans, fetal echocardiography and pathways with growth restriction, placental insufficiency and other fetal pathology.

We have an established collaboration with the fetal medicine department at Aarhus University Hospital, which ensures the possibility for professional sparring and collaboration on complex cases.

We work systematically with quality improvement, which among other things has formed the background for us to be named Denmark's best obstetric department for several years.

For us, professionalism, security, flexibility and good collaboration are central values.

Family clinic and vulnerable families

We want to create coherent and safe pregnancy journeys for all pregnant women – also when pregnancy is characterized by particular challenges or complex issues.

Work with vulnerable families requires obstetric expertise, good communication skills and an ability to view the individual pregnant woman's and family’s overall situation.

We emphasize a respectful and individualized approach, starting from the pregnant woman’s needs and collaborating across disciplines and sectors to create the best possible pathways.

We continuously want to develop our offerings and workflows in this area, and you will have the opportunity to contribute with your skills, experience and ideas on how we best support pregnant women with a need for special attention.

Gynecology

The department handles the evaluation and treatment of benign gynecological diseases, including robot-assisted surgery, urogynecology, gynecologic endocrinology and general gynecologic surgery.

We have a large outpatient activity with about 15,000 gynecological visits per year.

Research, education and development

Kvinde sygdomme og Fødsler has an university clinic within gynecologic HPV-related disease and maintains an active research and development environment.

Research, education and quality development are a natural part of our work and an important prerequisite for offering patient treatment of the highest quality.

Our university clinic supports staff with research interests, and we want to create good opportunities to combine clinical work with research and professional development.

At Region Hospital Gødstrup, research and education are strategic focus areas, and the hospital's research environment is supported, among other things, by NIDO | Danmark.

We would like you to have an interest in research and quality development and want to contribute to the development of our obstetric area.

From 2029, Region Hospital Gødstrup will also participate in the clinical education of medical students on the new master's program. This provides further opportunities to engage in teaching and education of future doctors.

We are looking for a colleague who

  • Is a specialist in gynecology and obstetrics.
  • Has clinical experience in obstetrics.
  • Is interested in fetal medicine and/or working with vulnerable families.
  • Wants to further develop their professional competencies and contribute to the development of the department's offerings.
  • Works evidence-based and focuses on high quality and patient safety.
  • Is professionally engaged, proactive and curious about new possibilities.
  • Thrives in an interdisciplinary environment and actively contributes to good collaboration.
  • Has good communication skills and meets patients, families and colleagues with respect and integrity.
  • Wants to contribute to teaching, supervision and professional development.

Experience with fetal medicine, prenatal diagnostics or working with vulnerable pregnant women would be advantageous depending on the function you wish to undertake.

It would also be an advantage if you have experience with research, quality development or teaching, but this is not a requirement.

We place importance on both your professional competencies and your personal qualities. For us it is important to find a colleague who wants to be part of the community and contribute to the ongoing development of our department.
