About the job

We are seeking a specialist doctor who either has experience in treating sensomotoric and cognitive symptoms secondary to acquired or congenital brain injury, has experience within the neurorehabilitation field or has a neuro-science background with an interest in delving into neurorehabilitation at the highest level of specialization. This also implies an interest in developing the medical dimensions of the neurorehabilitation field nationally and internationally.

A position as a specialist doctor at Regionshospitalet Hammel Neurocenter (RHN), with primary place of work at our wards S12 and S13 in Skive Health House, is available for occupancy from 1 January 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter. The specialist doctor will join the medical team that together solves the professional task at RHN’s departments in Skive and Lemvig.

RHN is a highly specialized university clinic that provides neurorehabilitation for patients with acquired brain injury from across Western Denmark. We are a professional development hospital and competence center that works with individually tailored patient pathways based on a bio-psycho-social disease model (ICF) and in multidisciplinary teams around the patient. The medical tasks cover a broad medical field with close collaboration between doctors from several specialty areas, which reflects the general multidisciplinary approach to complex and long patient pathways.

About the position

We are seeking a specialist doctor who either has experience in the treatment of sensomotor and cognitive symptoms secondary to acquired or congenital brain injury, has experience in the neurorehabilitation field or has a neuro-science background with an interest in deepening into neurorehabilitation at the highest level of specialization. This also implies an interest in developing the medical dimensions of the neurorehabilitation field nationally and internationally.

We are looking for a specialist doctor with a good overview of complex pathways with multi-morbid patients, an understanding of the whole person in the rehabilitation process and a desire to engage in close collaboration with colleagues from several specialties. For the right applicant there are good opportunities to plan the task solution themselves, in collaboration with the rest of the medical team at our wards in Skive and Lemvig. Likewise, there are good opportunities for close collaboration with the broad multidisciplinary team around the patient’s pathway.

As RHN is a university clinic, there is an aim to ensure, in all we do, close collaboration between the clinical staff and the institution’s research-active staff, just as it is supported that clinically active staff participate in and contribute to active internal research and development projects. Daytime work consists of ward rounds and routine clinical work, multidisciplinary conferences, patient-relative meetings in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team and collaboration across sectors.

We are organized with fixed physician attachment to specific wards, which provides both great continuity and great responsibility for patient pathways. The specialists at RHN have close collaboration in the ward with the chief nurse and the leading therapist and participate in the ward’s triad leadership.

There is no on-call obligation attached to the position. The duty is handled by the Hammel matri- team by telephone. In this position there is instead an obligation to, together with the rest of the specialist team in Skive and Lemvig, solve the clinical task at both campuses during planned absence or sick leave.

The medical group consists of 17 specialists (13 in Hammel, 3 in Skive and 1 in Lemvig) with the following specialties: neurology, neurosurgery, internal medicine, geriatrics, pediatrics and general medicine in addition to a number of younger doctors in training in various positions. The close interdisciplinary collaboration between the doctors is a natural and necessary part of the work.

A comprehensive individualized introduction to the specialty and RHN will be planned. There is also an expectation of ongoing participation in continuing and further education for specialists.

Competences

  • Experience in neurorehabilitation or with a neuro-science background.
  • A good overview of patient pathways with many actors and the organizational ability to lead the pathway.
  • Good collaboration skills with the medical specialties and in the multidisciplinary group around the patient (therapists, nurses, neuropsychologists, speech therapists, social workers, medical secretaries).
  • Communication in a relational and respectful manner with timely and correct information to both patient, relatives and professionals. It requires the ability to put yourself in the target group’s place and converse in that context.
  • Development-oriented in a rapidly evolving specialty area.
  • Responsible, independent, proper and professional in handling tasks for patients/relatives, colleagues and own learning.
