About the job
Do you want to help build something new?
Would you like to work audiology- speech pathology with people with acquired brain injury – and do you also have the courage to leave your professional mark on a brand new offering?
Then we have an exciting opportunity for you.
At Bodil Eskesen Center we are looking for a speech-language pathologist/audiologist for a permanent position initially 37 hours a week. You will become part of our strong multidisciplinary team and have a special opportunity to contribute to developing and building our new specialized department for neurorehabilitation, which we as part of the health reform will bring under Region Øst by January 1, 2027.
This means that you don’t just step into a finished function. You get the opportunity to help shape how we organize and develop the audiology/speech-language pathology efforts in the new offering.
What will you do?
We are currently working with patients in the early stages after a severe acquired brain injury. Brain injuries can occur after, for example, stroke, head trauma or hypoxic brain injury and can have major consequences for both the patient and their relatives.
Frequently there will be language and communication difficulties, e.g., in the form of aphasia, dysarthria, verbal apraxia, cognitive communication difficulties, voice problems or other complex communication challenges. We also meet patients with severe consciousness impairment and locked-in syndrome.
Here the audiology/speech-language pathology plays an important role – both in assessment, in the concrete intervention and in helping patients, relatives and staff find ways to better communicate.
You will, among other things, work with
- Audiology/speech-language pathology assessment and clinical observations
- Individual and group-based intervention
- Rehabilitation of language, speech, communication as well as reading-, spelling- and writing functions
- Advice and conversation support for patients, relatives and staff
- Teaching and knowledge sharing mono- and interprofessionally
- Participation in multidisciplinary meetings and planning of rehabilitation courses
- Documentation and professional development
- Collaboration with the municipality and other relevant partners
- Keep yourself professionally updated and contribute to the development of the audiology/speech-language pathology efforts.
Our inpatient course is typically longer – weeks to months – so you will have the opportunity to follow the patients closely, see development over time and get to know both patients and relatives well.
And then there is the new …
From January 1, 2027 we will expand with a new specialized department for neurorehabilitation. This is where we hope you would like to be involved.
We are therefore looking for a speech-language pathologist/audiologist who both enjoys the clinical day-to-day work and finds it exciting to be involved when something is built from the ground up.
You will have the opportunity to bring your professional ideas into play, help develop workflows and offerings, and set the direction for how audiology/speech-language pathology should interact with the other professional groups in the new department.
In short: We do not have all the answers yet – and that is actually part of the point.
You will become part of …
Our psychosocial group consisting of: 4 audiologists/speech-language pathologists (including you), 9 neuropsychologists, 1 crisis psychologist and 4 social workers
An interprofessional environment with: physiotherapists, occupational therapists, doctors, nurses and other professional groups closely around the patients.
We place emphasis on high professionalism, knowledge sharing and sparring – but also on it being nice to go to work. We help each other, are curious about each other’s professions and have room for both professional discussions and a good laugh in everyday life.
You will also have the opportunity for relevant competence development as well as participation in networks and conferences.
Who are you?
You hold a Master’s degree in speech-language pathology/audiology and preferably have experience with neurology and neurorehabilitation – e.g., from hospital, municipality or another relevant setting.
Maybe you already have solid experience with acquired brain injury. Maybe you are relatively new to the field but have a strong professional interest and a desire to learn. The most important for us is that you are passionate about audiology/speech-language pathology and want to make a difference for people with brain injury and their communication.
We hope you
- can handle audiology/speech-language pathology assessment, intervention and documentation
- have an interest in neurology and neurorehabilitation
- would like to have experience with or interest in conversation support
- can work independently and at the same time thrive in a close interdisciplinary collaboration
- are curious, flexible and want to develop both yourself and our offering
- can maintain an overview, even when today’s plans change along the way
- contribute with engagement, presence, empathy – and preferably a good sense of humor.
We offer you
A speech-language pathology position with professional weight, great variation and opportunity for influence.
You will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the concrete rehabilitation of patients with complex communicative difficulties and to help develop the audiology/speech-language pathology efforts in a new specialized neurorehabilitation offering.
And you will have a place of work at the new Bodil Eskesen Center with modern facilities for patients, relatives and staff.
It is already lively in the house – and from 2027 there will be even more.
Do you want to be part of it from the start? Then we would love to hear from you.
