Student assistants in medicine wanted for the Competence Center for Transcultural Psychiatry and Psychotherapeutic Outpatient Clinic, Psychiatric Center Ballerup

We are a small team of medical students seeking 3 new members. The team's work is part of randomized clinical studies that aim to describe the complex symptom profile and assess treatment effect. The current research project includes both PTSD-affected refugees (at the Competence Center for Transcultural Psychiatry) and PTSD-affected civilians (at the Psychotherapeutic Outpatient Clinic).

About the job

Our task as student assistants consists in assessing patients' depressive symptoms using the Hamilton Rating Scale and functional level, and cognition using the WHODAS interview. We are blinded to the patients' treatment and are thus not involved in the actual treatment or the research work. You gain extensive experience in patient interviews, as well as a unique opportunity to practice clear communication, as we use interpreters in part of the conversations.

You will be trained through a review of the rating scales used, two paid on-call shifts, and a joint rating, where with supervision from one of the department's senior physicians we assess a video-recorded interview. We are a well-liked team in the outpatient clinics and can always contact the staff with questions.

You can apply if you

• are a medical student in the 3rd-8th semester
• can participate in the joint rating on Wednesday, December 2, 2026 from 13:00-15:00
• can participate in two on-call shifts in November-December
• can take independent shifts from January
• Can stay on the team for at least 1 year

When applying, interest and experience in psychiatry and/or transcultural work would be an advantage, but not a requirement.

Salary and employment terms

As a rule, we cover shifts on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00-15:00 and you are employed for 10 hours per month. That means you have 1-2 shifts per month (+ standby shift). In addition, there are 3 paid joint ratings per semester, which take place on Wednesdays 13:00-15:00. It is expected that everyone on the team participates to ensure consistency in ratings.

You are employed under the collective agreement for administrative and IT staff, etc. You are during employment covered by the applicable working hours rules entered into between the Regionernes Lønnings- og Takstnævn and HK Kommunal at any given time.
