Subject didactic advisor strengthens all children's motivation to read and reading skills

About the position and tasks

Your most important task will be to develop the professional and didactic quality of teaching in the schools, especially in Danish. You will become a central actor in translating didactic knowledge about the Danish subject, language, reading and writing into practice-oriented development programs that create value for students’ learning. To succeed, you must be able to work at three levels:

Strategic level

In collaboration with the school leaderships you will be tasked with

• Develop the professional and didactic quality at the municipality’s schools.
• Set the direction for work with Danish, reading, writing, literacy and language learning environments, including Danish as a second language.
• Coordinate and implement professional initiatives and new didactic approaches across schools.
• Analyze professional data and support data-informed school development.
• Create coherence between the municipality, school leaderships, schools, partners and the political level.
• Support the development of the schools’ professional resource persons.

Advisory and competency development level

• Advise development advisors, teachers, pedagogues and teams.
• Plan and run networks, workshops and competency development programs.
• Translate research and didactic knowledge into practice-oriented solutions.
• Facilitate processes that create engagement and professional development.
• Support the schools’ work with teaching quality and strong learning environments.

Practice-oriented level

• Observe teaching and provide subject didactic sparring.
• Execute model teaching.
• Participate in co-teaching.
• Support concrete initiatives for students with reading and writing difficulties.

There will be great variation in the tasks, and it is important that you want to work at all three levels.

As a subject didactic advisor you will be part of the Daycare & School Staff and report to the head of staff. You will function as a link between the administration, schools, partners and the political level. You will be part of a strong professional environment and will have a cross-cutting function at all of the municipality’s schools.

About you

We imagine that you

• Have experience as a reading advisor, subject advisor or from a similar function in the school sector.
• Have relevant postgraduate or continuing education in Danish, Danish as a second language, reading, literacy, dyslexia, language development or special education.
• Have strong subject didactic competencies in Danish and reading.
• Can translate research and professional knowledge into practice-oriented solutions.
• See it as an important task and thrive working closely with teaching to create development together with teachers and pedagogues.
• Have experience with or an interest in practice-oriented guidance, observation and co-teaching.
• Are a strong facilitator and can create engagement around professional development.
• Can work analytically with data and use them as a basis for development.
• Work independently, in a structured and solution-oriented manner.

It is advantageous if you have experience from a municipality or another politically governed organization, but not a requirement.

Salary and terms of employment

The position is 37 hours per week.

Salary and terms of employment are set according to applicable collective agreement and negotiations with the negotiating organization.

Expected start date is 1 January 2027.

The employment process consists of two interviews. The interviews will be held in week 47 and 48. Between the first and second interview, selected candidates will be asked to solve a case.

The workplace is Albertslund Town Hall, Nordmarks Allé 1, 2620 Albertslund.
