Apply for the position

Do you want to help shape the rivers of the future?

Rivers are a central part of our nature, climate and society. They connect the landscape, create habitats for animal and plant life and play an important role in managing water from both cloudbursts and groundwater. At the same time, many rivers are affected by regulation and human activity, making nature restoration and improvement of the ecological state a key societal task.

When we work with rivers, it is therefore about both nature and society. It is about creating robust ecosystems, improving water quality, ensuring better climate adaptation and supporting sustainable land use – in line with the Water Framework Directive and national objectives for the water environment.

With us you get the opportunity to work on projects ranging from concrete restorations of rivers to larger planning and regulatory tasks, where holistic thinking and professional quality are decisive.

About the position

You will play a central role in both professional assessments, project management and dialogue with authorities. You will become part of a cross-disciplinary environment where rivers form an integrated part of larger projects within nature, climate, infrastructure and land use. Your main tasks will be centered around:

  • Case processing and advisory services under river legislation
  • Implementation of the Water Framework Directive in concrete projects and decisions
  • River biological and hydromorphological assessments
  • Environmental analyses of river systems, including the relationship between hydrology, ecology and influences from the catchment
  • Provide professional sparring during design and planning of river projects, including river restoration and restoration projects
  • Preparation of technical documentation, notes and decision bases for authorities and clients
  • Contributions to environmental impact assessments and permits
  • Dialogue and coordination with municipalities, state authorities, landowners, utilities and contractors
  • Interdisciplinary collaboration with colleagues within hydrology, geotechnics, environment and planning

About you

We place value on you thriving in a committed professional community where collaboration and knowledge sharing are a natural part of everyday life. You take responsibility – for your own deliverables and for the project’s overall progress – and actively contribute to a culture where we pull together and make each other look good.

We therefore imagine that you are good at collaborating with other disciplines and actively contribute to tasks, also when they cross interests and stakeholders. At the same time you work independently and in a structured way, and you are good at driving your own professional deliverables in a project process and ensuring that agreements are followed through. We expect that you

  • Have a relevant natural science or technical education (e.g., biologist, environmental engineer or similar)
  • Have a minimum of 3 years of experience from a municipality, utility or consulting engineering company
  • Have solid experience with river management, regulatory work or environmental assessments
  • Have knowledge of river hydraulics, ecological status assessments and influences from the catchment (e.g., nutrients, physical changes and hydromorphology)
  • Understand the interplay between legislation, technical solutions and practical project design in the consulting industry
  • Have experience in preparing decision bases, reports and technical notes for authorities and clients
  • Work independently, in a structured way and can drive your own professional deliverables in project work
  • Have strong collaboration and communication skills
