About the job

Do you want to help create the best possible development conditions for the youngest children and their families? Do you have a background as a public health nurse, and would you like to become part of a strong professional community where we together make a difference for children and families?

Then you may be our new colleague in the infant and toddler team.

About the position

We are seeking a public health nurse for 30-37 hours per week, who will help build and develop our new infant and toddler initiative in close interdisciplinary collaboration with the Center for Children, Young People and Family. The initiative is targeted at pregnant women and families with children aged 0-6 years, where there is greater concern for the child’s well-being, development and the interaction between child and parents. The aim is to strengthen the early intervention and create better development conditions for the child by working closely with the family and the family’s overall situation.

The initiative will, among other things, focus on

  • the child’s development, well-being and regulation
  • early attachment and the interaction between child and parents
  • parents’ understanding of and response to the child’s needs
  • the family’s resources and burdens
  • early detection and handling of concerns
  • strengthening parents’ ability to create safe and developing environments for the child.

The interdisciplinary approach is central. Public health nurses and family therapists bring their respective expertise into play and work together to create a common view of the child and the family.

Part of a larger professional community

The infant and toddler initiative is a new part of our overall offering in the Center for Children, Young People and Family. You will therefore not be hired solely for work in the infant and toddler initiative. You will have 10 hours per week tied to the infant and toddler initiative, while your other hours will consist of ordinary public health nursing duties.

This means that you will have the opportunity to specialize in the infant and toddler area while also being part of the other operations in the Public Health Nursing service. You should therefore thrive in a daily routine where tasks can vary and where you work both independently and with colleagues across professional areas and tasks.

About the Public Health Nursing Service

The Public Health Nursing Service is part of the Family Area in Syddjurs Municipality and works to ensure that all children get the best possible start in life. We meet families early through health-promoting, preventive and cross-disciplinary initiatives with a focus on well-being, development, attachment and parenting. Our work is based on Syddjurs Municipality’s Family, Children and Learning Policy, where early intervention, strong communities and cohesive pathways for children and families are central values.

The Public Health Nursing Service consists of 19 public health nurses and a secretary and is organized in a shared public health nursing arrangement. We work closely with the Center for Children, Young People and Family, the authority area, PPR and day care centers to ensure holistic and coherent interventions for children and families.

Your tasks

As a public health nurse you will both participate in the infant and toddler initiative and carry out other public health nurse duties in the team, which covers the areas of Mols, Rønde and Ebeltoft and surrounding areas.

In the infant and toddler initiative, your duties will include, among other things

  • contributing to supporting the child’s well-being and development from a health-professional perspective
  • observation and support of the interaction between child and parents
  • conversations with parents about the child’s needs and development; including guidance
  • supporting parents in creating developing and safe environments for the child
  • participating in cross-disciplinary meetings and professional assessments
  • documentation and follow-up on the initiative
  • close collaboration with family therapists and other partners.

In your other hours you will contribute to the remaining tasks within the infant and toddler area in Public Health Nursing.

We work with the child and the family at the center

In Public Health Nursing we work with the child at the center and with a focus on the whole family's well-being, resources and development opportunities. Through a health-promoting, preventive and relationship-building approach we support the child’s health, well-being and development from pregnancy and through the first years of life.

We have a particular focus on the child’s early development, attachment and the interaction between child and parents. Based on the child’s needs and the family’s conditions, we support the parents in understanding and responding to the child’s signals and in creating safe and developing environments for the child’s upbringing.

The goal is to strengthen the family’s ability to act and cope so that both child and parents thrive, and the child receives the best possible conditions for a healthy and secure start in life.

We expect that you

  • are educated as a public health nurse with experience in working with infants and families. You are professionally grounded and can translate your knowledge into practice so families experience quality, clarity and security
  • can organize your work day, create an overview and take leadership in situations where necessary. You can set a frame – and maintain it – so that families and colleagues experience that collaboration on the core task is clear
  • meet colleagues with positive energy and actively contribute to creating a positive synergy. You share experiences – both when something succeeds and when it doesn’t – and see learning in mistakes and diversity as a strength.
  • can express yourself clearly, constructively and respectfully – also in difficult conversations with families and colleagues. You take responsibility for ensuring that your communication always supports a professional and solution-oriented collaboration
  • are curious about your own professional development, participate actively in supervision and see sparring as a natural part of developing both yourself and the team

We offer

  • the opportunity to help build a new interdisciplinary infant and toddler initiative
  • a meaningful job with high professional standards and clear direction
  • a close interdisciplinary collaboration with colleagues in the Center for Children, Young People and Family as well as the authority department
  • dedicated and competent colleagues with extensive knowledge and experience in working with children and families in vulnerable positions
  • a workplace characterized by good energy and a high professional level
  • flexible working hours
  • supervision and ongoing professional sparring
  • an exciting, challenging and varied everyday life
  • the opportunity to develop specialized competences within the infant and toddler area and to work broadly as a public health nurse.

In Syddjurs Municipality you are not only employed for your professional expertise – but also to actively contribute to our work community.

Organization of the infant and toddler initiative

From Public Health Nursing two public health nurses each contribute 10 hours to the initiative.

From the Center for Children, Young People and Family three family therapists each contribute 10 hours to the initiative. One of the three employees from the Center for Children, Young People and Family will also have a coordinating role and will also work 10 hours as a family therapist in the infant and toddler initiative.

The coordinator will among other things help create coherence in the initiative, support coordination between the professional areas and help ensure a common professional direction.

Salary and employment terms
