A highly skilled urban planner for Ballerup Municipality

As a town planner you will translate the City Council's strategic goals into concrete plans and be responsible for creating momentum and coordinating collaboration with colleagues, developers and other actors. The position is therefore for you who can maintain professional oversight and navigate confidently through professional, administrative and political decision-making processes.

You will be responsible for driving local plan processes from the initial dialogue to the final adoption of the plans. This requires solid knowledge of the Planning Act and understanding of other relevant legislation. We prioritise early dialogue with both developers and relevant professional areas in the municipality, so that legislative frameworks, professional considerations, feasibility and the coherence with subsequent authority processing are included from the outset.

Your key tasks

• Prepare local plans for both larger development areas and smaller projects
• Project leader on larger holistic plans
• Contribute to the upcoming revision of the municipal plan
• Planning professional sparring on concrete projects and inquiries from citizens and developers
• Involve relevant disciplines in planning and coordinate planning work across the organisation.
• Prepare case presentations, notes and other planning-related material for political consideration.

Your competencies

• At least 3 years of practical experience with local planning
• Have a relevant education, e.g., architect, landscape architect, engineer or surveyor
• Work independently, in a structured and solution-oriented way both with own tasks and in cross-disciplinary collaboration
• Communicate complex issues clearly and precisely both in writing and orally
• Actively contribute to the professional and collegial community
• Have experience with cross-disciplinary issues, including environmental assessment, noise, rainwater management, wastewater and traffic
• Solid knowledge of the Planning Act and understanding of basic administrative law rules and principles
• Experienced project manager with the ability to create momentum in larger, complex and cross-disciplinary projects with many stakeholders.

You will become part of Team Plan in the Center for City and Environment – a strong seven-person team consisting of traffic and urban planners, as well as a student assistant. The team is part of the Center for City and Environment, which together consists of 115 employees with diverse professional backgrounds and tasks.

Hiring process and salary

The employment date is January 1, 2027 or as soon as possible.

Interviews will be held on Monday, October 26, 2026. A possible second interview will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2026.

The position is initially 37 hours and a permanent position.

As a starting point, we offer salary and employment terms according to the agreement for academics in municipalities and according to principles of local pay formation and in agreement with the negotiating organisation.

Salary range for the position is DKK 32,573 – 49,990 per month (37 hours)

Salary depends on a negotiation between the manager and the professional organisation that has negotiating authority for the applicable collective agreement.

The salary composition depends on your education, proven seniority and qualifications.
