About the job

Do you want to help build the infrastructure that keeps DMI, Maps and Geodata running around the clock?

We are looking for a systems administrator who will take responsibility for the infrastructure our production, research and development rely on. You will have particular responsibility for our virtual platforms and backups and for ensuring that data and systems can be restored when something goes wrong.

We are in the process of renewing and cleansing our systems. They are built automatically, and backup and restore are considered from the start. It gives you influence on how future platforms should look, and good opportunities to work with how complex environments with many virtual servers are secured and recovered.

Your role You will join a small team that operates and further develops the platforms. The tasks range from daily operations and small improvements to larger projects where new solutions need to be established and older systems migrated.

We want to make operations as simple and robust as possible. Therefore we automate where it makes sense, standardize the platforms and document the solutions so the whole team can run them.

You will, among other things, work with virtualization, backup and recovery, redundancy, high availability and disaster readiness, monitoring and documentation as well as modernization of older systems. In addition, other server operations on Linux and Windows.

You do not need to know everything from day one. The most important thing is that you have experience with virtualization and backup and thrive with systems that must not go down. We have a voluntary on-call arrangement, which you will have the opportunity to join in time.

What you contribute with We are looking for someone who likes to create order and see the whole picture. You have an eye for the connections between the systems and can create structure and overview, even in solutions with many years behind them.

You take documentation seriously and ensure that others can understand and take over what you have built or changed.

You can make decisions even when you do not have all the answers. You can assess what is good enough here and now, what needs to be done properly, and when it is time to get started.

And you are keen to learn new things, share your knowledge and contribute to developing the way we work.

We also expect you to have a relevant medium- or longer-term IT education, e.g. computer science, engineering, cand.it.

Your new workplace You will be employed in the Center for Technology at DMI, Maps and Geodata, which is responsible for central parts of the infrastructure and the technology platforms that support Denmark's basic data and weather information.

Your daily workplace is the office Internal Platforms and Networks. Here you will have experienced colleagues with broad competencies in the operation of critical IT systems and the infrastructure they rest on. We help each other, share knowledge and have a shared responsibility for things to function.

You will work closely with colleagues in operations, developers, specialists and users.

You will take a central role in an operation where stability is crucial, but where there is also room to think new and build the next generation of our platforms.

DMI is part of the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Utilities. As of 1 December 2026, DMI will merge with our sister agency, Klimadatastyrelsen, and become DMI, Maps and Geodata. In the new agency we will be over 600 employees, most of whom work daily at Sankt Kjelds Gård in Østerbro.

Terms and what you can look forward to Employment and remuneration are in accordance with the relevant collective agreement for academics in the state concluded between the Ministry of Finance and a number of AC organizations. We expect to hire a specialist or senior consultant for this role as a starting point. There will be an opportunity to negotiate a supplement to the base salary depending on your qualifications and experience. DMI offers a flexible 37-hour work week including a paid lunch break and six weeks of paid vacation per year.

For further information about the position please contact Eivind Bengtsson, head of Internal Platforms and Networks, at [email protected] .

We look forward to hearing from you! If you can see yourself in the role of a systems administrator at DMI, Maps and Geodata, please send an application and your CV no later than 25 October. We expect to hold interviews in weeks 44 and 45, and the invitation to interview will be sent by email.
