About the job

Are you our new colleague who is passionate about students' learning and well-being? And would you like to work together with skilled and engaged colleagues around students' learning within the special education area?

Are you skilled in classroom management, and can you see yourself supporting strong academic learning communities that create participation opportunities for all students at Mellervangskolen?

One of our colleagues has taken a new job, and we are therefore looking for a skilled and engaged teacher for the students in Focus Classes.

About the school

Mellervangskolen is a public school in the eastern part of Aalborg with 440 students and 100 staff. In the general school, we are two-tracked from 0th to 9th grade with an accompanying DUS program for students from 0th-3rd grade. In addition, Mellervangskolen also houses DELTA classes for grades in the Older department.

The Focus Classes at Mellervangskolen are one of Aalborg Municipality's special education offerings for students who, as assessed by PPR, have a special educational need and who currently do not thrive and develop within the framework of the general school. We currently have about 100 students from 0th to 10th grade.

All teams, both in general and focus, work with a consistent approach regarding the translation of DELTA-inspired learning environments and the use of visual structures across Mellervangskolen. The translation of DELTA-inspired learning environments originates from the school's strategic plan.

The school is departmentally organized, and there is a high degree of self-management and responsibility in a binding collaboration within the team. At Mellervangskolen there is a duty to collaborate. It is therefore important that you are a team player and, together with the team, create a safe, structured, and predictable everyday life with children at the center.

At Mellervangskolen we have defined our common core task and it is the starting point for our priorities and our focus in pedagogical practice. The core task is: “At Mellervangskolen we create opportunities for well-being and learning through wonderful, binding communities with participation opportunities for all and room for unconventional solutions.” It is therefore central that you can see yourself in this formulation.

About the position

We expect you to be a trained teacher with specialization in Physics/Chemistry . In addition, it is an advantage if you have experience in, and the competence to, teach in one or more of these subjects: mathematics, German, and Woodwork and Design . In general, it is expected that you can and will teach a broad range of subjects in collaboration with your colleagues.

It is not a requirement, but we place a high value on having special pedagogical knowledge and experience with teaching within the special education area.

We expect that you, in collaboration with your team, can

  • Commit to our core task and our inclusion framework.
  • Engage in close collaboration with parents and team colleagues.
  • Participate in other team constellations when required.
  • Work concretely and systematically with interventions at the individual and community levels.
  • Meet all students with appropriate pedagogy and didactics.
  • Work independently and in teams and participate in interdisciplinary collaboration with PPR and others.
  • Bring your professionality into play in subject teams and at learning conferences.
  • Navigate in an sometimes unpredictable daily life with a focus on creating the best frameworks and conditions for children with special needs, within the given resources.

We can offer

  • An engaged staff group that is good at helping and supporting each other.
  • A unique workplace with motivated and collaborative colleagues, and a good working environment where your efforts are valued, and where we look after one another.
  • A workplace where we strive to approach the task professionally for the benefit of the students' learning.

It is absolutely central that you can see yourself in – and that you work from the school's inclusion framework.
