Teacher for Danish and mathematics lessons in the early years of primary school

In Herlev Municipality we are massively investing in the public schools and will allocate 21 million DKK annually to the municipal schools from 2026. The funds go, among other things, to a two-teacher arrangement in Danish and mathematics, competency development, and more adults in after-school care (SFO) and clubs. It gives you better framework to deliver high-quality teaching and build strong relationships. And thereby make a difference for the children in school, in SFO and in clubs.

Additionally, from this school year we have established local schools on each site with close and engaging leadership and a strong local community.

About the school

At Lindehøjskolen we purposefully work to create strong learning communities where the students’ learning, well-being and development are at the center. We emphasize that students not only learn academically but also learn to go to school, participate in communities and develop good work and learning habits.

In the primary grades (grades 1-3) there are therefore two teachers present in all Danish and mathematics lessons. The teachers plan, implement and evaluate the teaching together, so that the best conditions are created for differentiated teaching, close support and opportunities for participation for all students. It allows meeting the students where they are and supporting both their academic development and their well-being in daily life.

We also work with safe and coherent transitions throughout the school year. Therefore one teacher follows the students up into the middle years so that relationships, recognizability and knowledge of the students’ learning and development are preserved over time. In the middle years, the work with the two-teacher arrangement in Danish and mathematics continues in two lessons per week, so the students continue to experience support, clear learning communities and high quality teaching. Likewise in the transition from the middle years to upper secondary.

Our school is an attractive school, which is located on a single site. In Herlev Municipality there are 5 public schools and one special school. Lindehøjskolen has around 900 students and 120 staff. The school is a four-stream school.

At Lindehøjskolen we work from the idea that all children do the best they can. We continuously develop initiatives to support our visions for the children’s learning, well-being and formation. We work with several initiatives at the school – among other things the development of a language strategy and work in professional learning communities.

About the position

We are seeking a trained teacher who is passionate about providing varied, motivating and versatile mathematics teaching for the youngest pupils in the school. The position includes mathematics in first grade and second grade and is supplemented with other subjects in which you have competencies. A high degree of collaboration with colleagues is expected, including teachers and pedagogues, mentors and leaders. It is also expected that there is close collaboration with the parents about their children.

You are a trained teacher. You have strong competencies in relation to

• an appreciative view of children and strong relationship skills.
• classroom management – you can create a good, safe and inclusive learning environment.
• contributing to a good parent collaboration.
• having a good mood and willingness to collaborate with both fellow teachers, pedagogues and other professionals in your team and at the school in general.

Salary and terms of employment

The position is full-time and the appointment starts from 1 December 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. Employment is in accordance with the applicable collective agreement. A police clearance and a child protection record will be obtained for employees hired at the schools in Herlev Municipality.

Herlev Municipality has smoke-free working hours.
