Teacher for Mathematics in the Early Years 🌱

We are seeking an engaged and relationship-strong mathematics teacher for the early years who would like to contribute to a close and committed collaboration on the students' learning, development and well-being.

It is important that you thrive in collaboration across a team and are eager to actively participate in the year group’s joint tasks. The position includes, among other things, 15 mathematics lessons spread across three of the year group’s five classes, and it is therefore important that you see opportunities in collaborating with several colleagues and contributing to a shared academic direction for the year group.

We place emphasis on you being clear in classroom management and communication, and on your ability to build good relationships with students, parents and colleagues.

About us

The school is located close to Amager’s nature, where we have Amager Fælled in the backyard and a close collaboration with Tårnby Nature School. We have the opportunities to move teaching out of the classroom and into nature. We are an ambitious and development-oriented staff group focused on community and creating the best framework for students’ learning and well-being in a professional learning community. We work a lot on strengthening students’ well-being, including well-being initiatives during breaks and involvement of Skolestyrken.

Skelgårdsskolen is a large public school with about 900 students and a total staff of around 120 employees. The staff work in year-group teams with scheduled time for team collaboration.

Salary and employment terms

The appointment is made in accordance with the applicable collective agreement with the Danish Teachers’ Union after negotiation.

In Tårnby Municipality, we offer in collaboration with DLF, Local 13 an introductory program for newly graduated teachers and kindergarten class leaders. The introductory program consists of three theme afternoons and a “Know your municipality” event. For the first two years as a newly graduated teacher you have reduced teaching time, and all schools have a mentor program. We take care to give you a good start to the teaching life.

The municipality’s employment policy entails that references are obtained from previous and current workplaces at the time of hire. If you have been employed in Tårnby Municipality, a reference will always be taken here. Moreover, a criminal record and a children's record must be presented at the time of hire. The employment will be conditional on these being satisfactory.
