About the job

You will have the opportunity to shape a small rural school with presence, a sense of community, room to grow, good outdoor areas and 200 pupils from kindergarten to 9th grade, i.e. 1 stream but with all year levels. You bring a good mood, are a calm and flexible passionate person with your feet on the ground and a talent for collaboration with students, parents, colleagues, leaders and partners.

You are creative and able to differentiate, work across classes, create practical, playful approaches in teaching and in breaks, so that there are opportunities for all students to learn and thrive. Because we are a small school, you should expect to collaborate across several year levels. There is a mentoring arrangement in the position.

We expect you to live up to some of these things

  • You can teach German, as well as mathematics, physical education, visual arts and preferably other subjects in the lower primary.
  • You will be organized within the lower school.
  • Are a trained teacher — possibly with experience and/or competence from the special education area.
  • Are up-to-date pedagogically with a large didactic toolbox or willing to learn, work in a structured way, IT-savvy and a team player.
  • Are robust, flexible, tolerant, able to stand firm and stand securely on your own two feet and be clear and value-based in dialogue with colleagues, students, parents.
  • Are a clear classroom leader or willing to learn and know about co-teaching.
  • Relationally competent with regard to classes with action plans and handling plans.
  • Have experiences or willingness to learn regarding guidance on social skills for students and working with learning environments, breaks, child communities, group division, station teaching, varied instructional forms, student involvement – so that all children and young people can become as skilled as possible and thrive as well as possible.
  • Have good experience in establishing good contact with all types of children, young people, parents and colleagues and contribute to the school’s “we” culture.
  • Have an awareness that there can be high emotional demands in working with people, and have a robust approach to prevent and, through good preventive collaboration, create change for staff and students.
  • Have an eye for the school’s role and importance in the local community.
  • You have a positive attitude, are proactive, solution- and action-oriented and can identify with the school’s values: Dialogue, courage, presence, professionalism.

We offer you

  • Mentoring scheme.
  • A environment that values an appreciative view of children and people, resilience, relational skills, dialogue, collaboration, flexibility, clarity, openness and initiative, and that we are a team.
  • A small school with ample opportunity to learn and make your mark.
  • Energetic, open and welcoming students, an engaged parent group and committed colleagues.
  • A school focused on developing our collaboration, with special emphasis on joint preparation, good action plans and collegial feedback and sparring.
  • An inclusive workplace where there is room for a good laugh, and where we recognize that we are each other’s working environment, and that everyone contributes to psychological safety with a healthy approach to developing, giving and receiving feedback, experimenting and making mistakes.
