About the job

Become the teacher a child remembers

At Rødmosegård School, the relationship comes before learning.

For when a child feels safe, seen and understood, learning becomes possible.

Therefore we are not just looking for a teacher. We are looking for a person who believes that clear frameworks, strong relationships and high professional standards go hand in hand – and who wants to find the path to learning together with children who do not always fit into the traditional school setting.

We are not an ordinary school – and the job isn’t either

Rødmosegård School is a day-treatment school for children and young people with social, emotional and developmental challenges. With us, teaching, treatment and relationship work go hand in hand.

We are looking for a teacher for our middle grade. The students are age-appropriately in the middle grades, but their academic level and prerequisites vary greatly. Several work academically at the primary level, so the teaching must be adaptable to each individual student.

That means you should be equally delighted with small academic progress as with big ones. Sometimes the goal is not to reach the next page in the book, but that the student stays in instruction a little longer, dares to try a task, accepts help or returns after a break.

We know that wellbeing is a prerequisite for learning. Therefore teachers, pedagogues and therapists work closely together to create the best opportunities for the individual child.

We believe that children do the best they can, and that development occurs when they are met by adults who are clear, caring and persistent.

We are looking for you who…

  • is a trained teacher
  • wants to teach middle-grade students with very diverse academic prerequisites
  • can plan and differentiate instruction, even when a student is academically at the primary level
  • can think creatively about teaching and learning
  • can create clear boundaries and secure relationships
  • meets the children with curiosity, calm and recognition
  • thrives in close interdisciplinary collaboration
  • has humor, engagement and a desire to make a difference – even on days when the plan has to be changed.

With us you get

  • small student groups and an opportunity to focus on the individual
  • a close interdisciplinary collaboration between teachers, pedagogues and therapists
  • dedicated colleagues who help and brainstorm with each other
  • external supervision
  • professional sparring and opportunities for development
  • great influence on the planning of the teaching
  • a daily life where there is room to think differently when traditional teaching doesn’t work
  • a workplace where professionalism, relationships, wellbeing and job satisfaction are prioritized.

We are looking for you who…

…can see behind the child’s behavior and be curious about what the child is trying to tell.

You must be able to hold on to the belief that learning is important, while you can adjust the demands when a child does not have the energy on the given day.

With us, teaching can take place at a table, on the floor, outside or through movement and practical activities. What matters is not always how the learning takes place, but that we find a way for the child to participate.

You do not need to have experience from a day-treatment school. The most important thing is that you are professionally curious, eager to learn and want to be part of a strong community around the children.
