About the job
Are you passionate about making a difference for children with special needs – and do you have strong relationship skills? Do you thrive in close collaboration where relationship, structure, safety and development are in focus? And are you eager to become part of a developing school where you can both make a difference for the individual child and contribute to a strong professional community? Then perhaps you are the one we’re looking for!
Special School Lolland is facing an exciting organizational change, where our current four sites will be consolidated into two departments at the turn of the year – Maribo and Nakskov. This strengthens opportunities for professional sparring, development and an even stronger community across the organization.
We are seeking engaged teachers for our upcoming department in Maribo. The positions include teaching and a professional advisor role, where you will become a central actor in working with students with special needs and in developing the school’s professional practice.
This position includes the role as either reading adviser, mathematics adviser – or with a wish to train to do so.
Your tasks will include
- Planning, implementation and evaluation of teaching tailored to the students’ needs
- Working purposefully with the students’ academic, personal and social development
- Contributing to the development of academic initiatives and didactic approaches
- Advising colleagues in reading or mathematics
- Creating safe, structured and predictable learning environments
- Close collaboration with colleagues, parents and cross-disciplinary partners
We emphasize that you
- Are positive, inclusive and meet the students at eye level
- Want to work with children and young people with special needs
- Can maintain calm and overview – even when the day doesn’t go as planned
- Work in an affirming, mentalizing and relationship-oriented manner
- Have strong conflict management skills
- Can create and maintain trusting relationships with students, colleagues and parents
- Are clear in your communication and collaborate constructively across professional groups
- Can create meaningful and structured learning environments with a clear didactic direction
- Are stable and approach work with a positive and engaged mindset
Your professional prerequisites
- You are a trained teacher
- You have a main subject in Danish (for the reading adviser position) or mathematics (for the mathematics adviser position)
- You have experience with or an interest in special education
- You have knowledge of – or a desire to work with – Low Arousal, neuro-pedagogy and a neuro-affective approach
- You have strong relation-building skills and can create safe and developmental learning environments
- You can plan, implement and evaluate teaching with a focus on the individual student’s needs
- You can express yourself clearly and reflectively both verbally and in writing
- You have an eye for students’ learning, well-being and participation opportunities
- You are curious about professional development and actively contribute to shared learning
- Have – or wish to develop – a guiding function in reading or mathematics
We offer
- A meaningful job where you make a difference for students with special needs every day
- Opportunity to work as a reading adviser or mathematics adviser (or train to become one)
- A everyday life characterized by high professionalism, close collaboration and focus on well-being
- A strong collegial community with good opportunities for sparring and development
- A close cross-disciplinary collaboration with a focus on holistic interventions
