Teacher for the upper grades – Mathematics, English, Physical Education and Home Economics

We are seeking a teacher who is passionate about teaching young people and helping to create a safe, clear, and academically ambitious school day for students in the upper primary/early secondary years.

We believe that the school is primarily a place where children and young people should learn. Therefore, our core task is to create good teaching, strong academic communities, and clear frameworks that enable students to develop – academically, socially, and personally.

The position is essentially full-time and includes teaching in

• English
• Home Economics
• Physical Education

We are looking for a skilled teacher in practice. Someone who

• Wants to teach young people and create good, clear learning environments in the upper school.
• Has strong subject-specific and didactic competencies within one or more of the subjects the position includes.
• Can create varied teaching with clear boundaries and high, realistic expectations for the students.
• Can stand firm and be persistent, even when something is difficult.
• Has an eye for students' academic progression and prerequisites.
• Sees the relationship to the students as an important part of teaching – but knows that a good relationship is not an end in itself. It should support the students' learning and development.
• Can meet young people with respect and decency without being afraid to set demands.

A school where we take the task seriously

At NBS we work with children and young people who have various life circumstances and prerequisites. This places demands on us as professionals.

We believe that, as a starting point, students want to succeed and be part of the community. Our task is to create frameworks, teaching, and communities where they have the opportunity to do so.

This also means that we cannot offer the same to everyone or solve all challenges around a student. The school can and should do a lot – but the school cannot do everything. We prioritize the core task and work so that the students experience support, clarity, and appropriate demands.

In the upper school, this means, among other things, that we must be able to combine academic ambition with clear class management and respect that students are on their way to becoming young people with increasing responsibility for their own choices.

We work with PALS, where responsibility, care, and respect are things we practice in daily life – also with the oldest students.

About NBS

NBS is one of three schools in Holstebro city. We host general classes from 0th to 9th grade, special classes (Strength Classes), sports classes, and an after-school club with both general and special offerings.

We have approximately 760 students and 90 staff and have modern physical facilities both indoors and outdoors.

The diversity among our students is large – and it is part of our professional task, not a condition we ignore.
