About the job

Do you want to make a difference for young people with developmental disabilities? Are you passionate about strengthening young people's social, personal and academic skills so they have the greatest possible influence on their own lives? Then this position may be something for you.

About the position

We are seeking a teacher for Spor A at Uddannelsescenter UiU Horsebakken – Copenhagen Municipality's 10th grade offering and STU for young people with extensive general learning difficulties and developmental disabilities aged 15-25. UiU Horsebakken is part of Copenhagen Municipality's education center with STU and 10th grade. We value safe surroundings, respect and high special pedagogical professionalism, so that young people can develop academically, personally and socially.

In Spor A, students are academically at a level corresponding to preschool to early primary. A portion of the young people are self-transporting, participate in work-market oriented tasks and have community-oriented social skills. Spor A consists of two teams/classes with close collaboration. Both 10th grade students and STU students are taught in the same class, and you will work in A2 in close collaboration with a team consisting of two teachers. Also attached to the track are a teaching aide and a kitchen staff member.

The teaching in Spor A is diverse and takes its starting point in the following areas

  • reading/writing and mathematics
  • social studies and news
  • physical education and fitness
  • music and ensemble playing
  • kitchen workshop and food production for the school café
  • digital communication and ethics
  • life skills training, housekeeping and cooking
  • outdoor activities
  • practical training and labor market training
  • youth environment with focus on friendships, youth life and personal development

We work in an appreciative way with a focus on the individual student's resources and progression. We use alternative communication forms such as photos and sign language, and the focus of the students' education lies in the concrete and practical. Many students benefit from structured activities, routines and the use of visual aids. UiU has good physical facilities with a sensory room, a music workshop, a multipurpose hall and a fitness room.

We want you to

  • have an interest in and a desire to teach young people with developmental disabilities
  • have knowledge of different diagnoses
  • can plan, implement and document learning processes
  • are clear and calm in your approach to the students
  • have a broad didactic understanding and can differentiate instruction
  • can see yourself engaging in parent collaboration
  • thrive in close teamwork and contribute to a positive working environment
  • are passionate about supporting young people in both their academic, personal and social development

We offer

  • an exciting and meaningful workplace with good physical facilities close to Utterslev Mose
  • an engaged group of colleagues with high professionalism and a strong sense of community
  • opportunity to work with varied activities and teaching methods
  • ongoing sparring and development through track meetings and interdisciplinary collaboration
  • working hours generally between 8:00 and 16:00, and students are taught from 8:20 to 13:30 on 200 school days
  • participation in relevant meeting activities and some evening events
