About the job

Imagine a school, where all students are teenagers. Where everyday life buzzes with youth, community, ambitions and big thoughts about the future. Welcome to Højdevangens Skole – one of Denmark's few pure upper secondary schools with only 7th, 8th and 9th grade. It gives a very special culture, a strong youth environment and a high academic tempo. The position – a job with meaning, professionalism and upper secondary life.

At Højdevangen you become a central part of a dynamic professional environment, where

  • students develop at a rapid pace, both academically and personally
  • you work targeted with subject progression in your subjects
  • you help prepare students for their final exams
  • strong relationships, clear boundaries and a safe learning environment are crucial for students' wellbeing and learning
  • everyday life includes both young people who need support and structure, and young people who flourish and make large academic leaps.

You will join a strong team of teachers and pedagogues who work closely together on both students' wellbeing and academic progression.

In the school year 26/27 and for several years ahead there will be two subject professionals in all Danish and mathematics lessons, so you should be eager to work closely with others, be curious about your own and shared practice, and dare to open your classroom to colleagues.

Who are you?

We are looking for you who

  • have a resource-oriented, youth-driven and appreciative perspective
  • thrive in a fast-paced environment with great diversity
  • want to be part of a strong professional team and a very special youth environment
  • preferably have experience with leading to final exams.

We are looking for a teacher who is passionate about their subjects and who thrives in the upper secondary's special energy. Most importantly, you have the desire and talent to combine subject knowledge, relationship work and clear classroom management, and that you are motivated to work with young people who can face adversity and frustrations, but also great successes and joys in their development.

Perhaps you are an experienced teacher who would like to try working life at an upper-secondary school, or you are a recent graduate. The most important is the desire for upper-secondary life.

About us

Højdevangens Skole is part of the four-school collaboration on Midtamager, where students attend 0-6 grade at Dyvekeskolen, Sundbyøster Skole or Gerbrandskolen and then continue in 7th grade at Højdevangens Skole. We are expanded to ten streams from 7th-9th grade, and in the coming school year we have 23 general classes, three reception classes and a separate boomerang offer for students with different academic and social challenges.

Because we gather students from several schools on Amager, our upper secondary is a living mix of cultures, personalities and learning styles. It gives a dynamic, inspiring and sometimes unpredictable everyday life, but also a strong academic environment and a close collegial collaboration where we lift together.

We believe that when we have to move young people forward, we must both be able to work within the municipal given frameworks, but also dare to think creatively and alternatively. This means for example that we have a large student talent program, that we prioritize school chess, school football, Green Council and other activities across classes and grades, and that as staff we are occasionally placed in unfamiliar reflective and philosophical conversations.

We are physically located close to the metro and buses, and here there is the possibility of free parking.

Terms of employment

The position is a permanent full-time appointment. We want you to start as soon as possible and no later than December 1, 2026. Salary and terms of employment according to the applicable collective agreement and within the framework of local pay formation. In connection with the employment we obtain a child and criminal record check and take references.
