About the job

Are you passionate about making a decisive difference for children with major wellbeing and regulation difficulties?

We are seeking teachers for a highly specialized role in our special pedagogical intervention team – a unique and meaningful role where you step in when everyday life is at its most challenging.

The position is anchored in the Children's Special Center's Knowledge House and involves close collaboration with the permanent pedagogical staff, contact leaders, department head, pedagogical supervisor, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and speech-language pathologists.

About the position

As a teacher in the special pedagogical intervention team, your main purpose is to create safety, stability and pedagogical quality around children and young people in the most complex cases. You will participate directly in interventions where children and young people can be highly frustrated, exhibit outwardly aggressive or boundary-violating behavior, or have significant challenges in relationship-building.

You shall engage in pedagogical practice as a professional and relational resource that supports, stabilizes and strengthens the work around both the child and the team in daily life with shifts from 7:00 to 16:00.

Your primary tasks will be to

  • Directly engage in practice around children with particularly large needs – also in pressured, unpredictable and emotionally demanding situations
  • Support the permanent staff in concrete situations such as conflicts, transition situations or escalating behavior
  • Work purposefully on relationship-building through presence, clarity, structure and continuity
  • Contribute to stress reduction and de-escalation through professional calm and an affirming pedagogical approach
  • Maintain structure, predictability and recognizable frames in the student’s daily life
  • Observe, analyze and communicate pedagogical observations and professional perspectives to the team and management
  • Engage in professional sparring and reflection with the Knowledge House's pedagogical supervisor

Flexibility and adaptability

The intervention team is activated when needed. This means you must thrive in a job where no two days are alike.

You must be able to

  • Shift between groups of children, teams and interventions with short notice.
  • Work in both short, intensive courses and longer stabilizing interventions.
  • Step into existing teams as a professional role model, with respect for the framework.
  • Handle unpredictability as a natural part of the task.

When there are no active interventions

During periods without special interventions, you participate in the regular schedule in a school team.

Here you contribute to implementing and maintaining a shared, structured and relationship-strong pedagogical approach for the entire target group.

About you

We are seeking teachers with relevant special pedagogical competencies and a relational approach.

We are looking for someone who

  • Has a fundamental understanding that all children do their best, and that it is the adults who must change the circumstances if the child cannot meet the demands
  • Has strong competencies in self-regulation, relationship work and professional calm in pressured situations
  • Thrives in a multidisciplinary environment and sees collaboration as a strength
  • Wants to work with alternative and supportive communication, e.g. picture communication
  • Can contribute professionally and personally—and take responsibility for the task
  • Is reflective, brave and comfortable with being professionally exploratory

Our professional basis

We operate under the Folkeskoleloven and from a development-supportive and relational basis focusing on children's learning, well-being and independence. We work preventively and have a strong pedagogical foundation including Low Arousal. When a child cannot meet the demands, we adjust the demands – not the child.

We offer

  • A special special-pedagogical task that requires your full attention.
  • A professionally strong and cross-disciplinary environment with high collaboration.
  • Onboarding, internal courses, supervision and professional forums.
  • A collegial community with high well-being and a strong professional culture.
  • A workplace with clear leadership, trust and a good working environment.
  • Time for preparation, collaboration and reflection.
  • An active and caring introduction to new employees.
