About the job
Do you like interacting with people, taking responsibility and being the one to lead when something needs to happen? Do you also have solid maritime professionalism?
Then we may have the job for you.
At Stromma Denmark we are looking for a Team Lead for our Crewing team, who helps to align people, staffing and daily operations.
You will become a visible part of our operation in Copenhagen and play a central role in the daily coordination and development of our employees. Together with the rest of the Crewing team, you help set the direction, create energy and ensure that our employees are well equipped to deliver fantastic experiences for our guests every day of the year.
You will be the one captains turn to
As Team Lead you will be the primary point of contact for our captains. This means that you must be able to lead from the front when required, and at the same time be the colleague who stands beside them when a captain needs sparring.
You will, among other things, be responsible for
- being visible in daily operations and close to the captains
- coordinating staffing and shift schedules
- handling sickness, holidays and the changes that inevitably arise when you run a living organisation
- recruiting, integrating and following up with new captains
- planning and following up on training, onboarding and development
- ensuring that captains have the necessary competencies, certificates and approvals
- being involved in developing our way of working
- contributing to a strong safety culture
- collaborating closely with traffic management, guides, shipyard and other teams in operations
- helping to ensure that our guests encounter skilled, engaged and professional staff.
Kort sagt: You must help ensure that people work well together so that operations run smoothly every day of the year.
We’re not necessarily looking for a finished leader
You don’t need to come as a finished leader, but you should want to become one.
The most important thing is that you have the desire and personality to lead from the front.
You may already have taken responsibility as a captain. You may have led a team, a project or an activity. You may simply be the person others naturally look to when a decision needs to be made.
The most important thing is that you enjoy standing in front of people, you dare to speak up, and you can create engagement.
And when something goes wrong, your first thought isn’t “it wasn’t my responsibility” , but rather “how do we solve it?”
You don’t need to know everything from day one. On the other hand, we expect you to have drive, an overview and a desire to develop both yourself and others.
It’s an advantage if you
- have experience as a captain in commercial operations
- have experience with shift planning, staffing or coordination
- have experience with recruitment, onboarding and staff development
- have experience with safety work and operational operations
- have solid maritime understanding and an interest in developing other captains’ professional skills
- are proficient with Office and digital systems
- speak and understand Danish and English, both spoken and written.
Your maritime qualifications
To be able to operate our boats you at minimum must have
- Commercial skipper certificate
- Commercial motor skipper certificate
- ROC certificate
- Basic sea safety course
It is not a requirement to have all certificates from day one to apply. The most important for us is that you have solid practical maritime experience and a good understanding of how to move safely on the water.
Your experience can come from many places. Maybe you have sailed professionally for many years, perhaps you have sailed around the world in your own boat, or perhaps you have been an instructor at a sailing club. What matters is not where you gained the experience, but that you have built a solid maritime understanding, can make good decisions on the water and want to use your experience to develop others.
What do you get?
You get a role with great visibility and real influence on our operations.
You will be part of the Crewing team, where we together share responsibility for the daily staffing, recruitment, development and coordination across boat areas.
At the same time you will have clear professional responsibility for the captains and the opportunity to put your mark on everyday life and the way we work.
In addition you get
- 6 weeks of vacation
- Private health insurance
- Flexible working hours
- Office centrally located in the heart of Copenhagen
In other words, you get a daily life close to operations, lots of contact with people and the opportunity to make things happen, while enjoying a flexible workday and good terms.
