About the job

I Skive Municipality's HR & Development department we are looking for a team leader for the payroll team. The team consists of 12 payroll consultants who ensure that every month salaries are paid to the municipality's more than 4,500 employees, and who support all our workplaces in the daily payroll and personnel administrative tasks, including among others.

  • Payroll reporting and case processing
  • Interpretation of collective agreements, contracts and policies
  • Advice to institutions and administrations

Red thread in payroll and personnel administration

As team leader you ensure professional coordination in the team, spar with the payroll consultants and make decisions to ensure the red thread in payroll operation, advisory etc.

You will become an important sparring partner for both the employees in the team, for managers at all levels in the municipality and for the other HR functions and you must be able to translate complex rules and collective agreements into usable solutions and recommendations.

As team leader you will also directly participate in task solving and thus be part of the collegial collaboration and have 'fingers in the dough' and thus be in close contact with both the tasks and colleagues.

Implementation and improvement

In addition to coordinating daily operations, the team leader will coordinate and ensure progress in the team's projects. It is, among other things, when new collective agreements or new legislation on e.g. vacation, working time registration, pay transparency etc. come into effect.

We also work with projects that we ourselves choose to initiate, with a view to efficiency and digitization, new working methods, better support for the organization etc. The payroll team today stands on a strong professional foundation and as team leader you will also play a central role in the continued development of payroll administration as an efficient operations function and a professional sparring and advisory function for the whole municipality.

Collaboration and well-being

A central part of the team leader's task is to ensure an appropriate distribution of work and tasks in the team.

You report to the HR and Development Manager, with whom you will have close daily collaboration. The formal personnel responsibility lies with the manager, but as team leader you are also expected to have an eye for colleagues' well-being in the team and together with the manager take relevant management initiatives to ensure well-being and good cooperation.

Your qualifications

As team leader you do not have to be an expert in everything in the team, but you must have both broad and fairly deep knowledge of public payroll operations. Knowledge and experience you have probably gained from a position in another public payroll department.

In HR & Development we have the municipality's expertise in payroll and personnel administration and personnel law and we support the rest of the organization, so there is control of personnel matters, payroll economics and that personnel administration functions optimally.

We therefore place emphasis on you having

  • great professional experience with municipal or other public payroll and personnel relations
  • experience with Silkeborg Data (or KMD Opus)
  • a relevant education, typically a municipal education, possibly with kommunom/diplom
  • have overview and ensure progress – but also eye for details
  • good communication skills, both oral and written
  • a responsible and flexible attitude to the work, keep things under control, as well as
  • good humor and a positive attitude to a busy everyday life.

We are a department with a good collegial spirit, a strong professional environment where we help and support each other, good physical premises and flexibility to arrange the work and the workday ourselves. It is important that you as team leader have a leadership style that matches and continues our culture characterized by great responsibility and mutual trust.

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the collective agreement and the principles of local salary formation.

Start date 1 January 2027 or by agreement.
