About the job

Are you eager to help set the direction for HR at two faculties at Aarhus University? Do you thrive in people management, operations and development – and at the same time want to make HR even better through automation, data-driven development and process improvements? Then perhaps you are the one we are looking for.

We are seeking a team lead for a newly created position in Nat-Tech HR. Together with the HR manager and our current team leader you will be part of the management in a focused HR department, where we work to make it easier for managers and employees to succeed with their core tasks.

The job

Nat-Tech HR supports the Faculty of Natural Sciences and the Faculty of Technical Sciences at Aarhus University. We provide HR advice and administration to the two faculties, 18 institutes and institute-like centers, and our own administration center.

Our tasks cover the entire HR spectrum. From day-to-day operations with recruitment and handling of absence to advice on organizational development and the work environment. And we are always working to make our processes smarter, more cohesive and user-friendly.

As the new team leader you will be responsible for two of our four teams. One handles personnel administrative tasks such as recruitment, absence and social security. The other works with research security and background checks of candidates from risk countries. You will have people management of around 20 HR supporters and become part of the overall leadership of Nat-Tech HR.

That means you need to have an eye for what needs to function here and now, and for what we need to get better at tomorrow. Some days it's about helping a team prioritize. Other days about sparring with a leader, developing a process or tackling a project that will make our HR work simpler and more effective.

You will have a special responsibility for our work with digitization, automation, process optimization and data-driven development. We already have various initiatives underway, but we are far from finished. Therefore it is important that you have an eye for and perhaps experience with how, among other things, automations create value for our users and employees.

When you step in as the new team leader, you quickly discover that the tasks are rarely simple, and that you of course do not have to solve everything yourself. We work closely together in the department, and you will have both an HR manager and a team-leader colleague close to you. We expect you to take responsibility for your areas, but also to use us others when you need sparring.

Your responsibilities as a team leader include

  • People management and professional development: Lead and develop two teams totaling about 20 employees and ensure developmental, attentive and trustworthy leadership
  • Operations and prioritization: Lead and develop the daily operations and help prioritize tasks and resources.
  • Strategic leadership: Contribute to the development of Nat-Tech HR and the cross-cutting HR area together with the HR manager and the rest of the leadership.
  • Cross-cutting collaboration: Create coherence across the administration center, the rest of HR at Aarhus University and in collaboration with the institutes.
  • Digitization and automation: Drive and develop the department's work with digitization, automation and data-driven development.
  • Project management: Lead internal and cross-cutting projects.
  • Culture and competence development: Contribute to a culture characterized by trust, collaboration and a desire to improve together.

Your profile

We envisage that you have experience with and are focused on people management and operations management – preferably from a public organization and, very preferably, from HR.

You are relationally strong and have a natural interest in people and collaboration. You are clear, even when decisions are difficult. And you build trust by being transparent about direction, priorities and expectations. It is important to us that you are willing to take responsibility for both people, operations and development.

We expect that you have a relevant longer academic education and leadership experience. It would be an advantage if you also have experience with project management, process optimization or automation.

And you must want to work with digitization and AI. And to explore what new technology can do for our employees, our processes and the leaders and units we support.

What you get with us

You will become part of an HR department with skilled and engaged colleagues, high professionalism and a daily life where we both need to make operations work and develop it at the same time.

You will have the opportunity to shape a newly created leadership role and the ongoing development of Nat-Tech HR – including our digital and data-driven HR initiatives.

And you will have colleagues who believe we are most successful when we do it together.
