About the job

Technical and Environmental Services Department is seeking a Senior Planner/Mobility Planner for Roads and Public Spaces

The Department of Roads and Public Spaces (formerly Mobility) is looking for a planner who is passionate about linking citizens' wishes and the City Council's visions for roads, paths and public spaces with concrete solution proposals

The Mobility agenda dominates politics and the daily life of the average Aarhus resident. There are therefore many wishes for the mobility of the future and which considerations the design of our roads, paths and public spaces must be able to address. Realising the green agenda, improved mobility on the major road network, peaceful residential areas and many other topics are just some of the agendas that Roads and Public Spaces covers.

About the job

You may, among other things, come to work with

  • Updating the Mobility Plan for the City of Aarhus
  • Planning the strategic road network in Aarhus Municipality
  • Developing public-space and climate adaptation projects
  • Coordinating tasks in the Roads and Districts professional group
  • Coordinating the municipality's construction programme for traffic infrastructure
  • Developing traffic solutions in collaboration with the municipality's 37 common councils
  • Providing political support and advice to our political leadership
  • Responding to citizen and business inquiries

Roads and Public Spaces is a flexible department, and we will to the greatest extent try to match your task portfolio with your interests and competencies. Your specific tasks will therefore also depend on your professional profile.

We offer a developing job and good collegiality

The position is located in the Roads and Public Spaces department, which today consists of 14 people plus a department head. The department is divided into three professional groups – Active Mobility, Public Spaces and Climate Adaptation, and Roads and Districts. Your primary professional group in the department will be Roads and Districts, but there are also opportunities to contribute with tasks in the other professional groups.

Roads and Districts is a professional group that manages the planning of our overarching road network, strategic mobility plans and smaller construction projects in dialogue with local residents, common councils and business actors. In practice, you will experience that you will have many collaboration surfaces across the entire department as well as with other departments in Technical and Environmental.

Although your primary professional group is Roads and Districts, we work from a holistic approach. In daily life you will have close cooperation with the department's other functions. This means you will work closely with colleagues who are passionate about everything from cycling promotion and green public spaces to traffic management and traffic safety – to ensure that our solutions work together across professional boundaries.

You will become part of a community with high professionalism, a sense of humor (though not always good) and a lot of willingness to pull together. We are here for various reasons, but the common desire is to contribute to a better Aarhus every day. Therefore you will always experience that you can get help and sparring for the tasks you are working on.

Who are you?

We would like you to nod to several of the following criteria

  • Experience with project management
  • Experience with public administration
  • Good cooperation skills and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to translate ideas and strategies into concrete project proposals.
  • Experience with traffic analyses and mobility planning.
  • A strong and broad professional foundation in the mobility field and knowledge of road regulations
  • An analytical, holistic and creative approach to task solving.
  • A good ability to structure and create overview in processes.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
