About the job

Would you like to help drive, maintain, develop and ensure stable operations? Are you seeking new challenges?

-Then you are the one we need.

About us

The TEMPEST laboratory is part of the Cyber division, which belongs to the Defence Material and Procurement Agency. We are responsible for testing classified IT equipment to protect Denmark's interests, at home and abroad.

We are a section with highly dedicated and skilled engineers, responsible for testing IT equipment, communicating the specialty and developing the TEMPEST measurement area. We work with measurement, equipment security and technical advisory.

We have an informal tone in a developing and collaborative environment with high ceilings. We focus on our well-being and seek to increase the section's capacity by offering a good working environment where flexibility and a good tone create the prerequisites for a tight-knit work family.

About the position

This is a newly established position as TEMPEST tester in our modern and well-equipped laboratory.

You will receive tasks within the TEMPEST area, including

  • Carry out and document TEMPEST measurements in the laboratory, on fixed and mobile installations, such as buildings, ships, vehicles, etc. And perform checks of procured material and repaired material.
  • Develop measurement methods - a task requiring a high degree of independence, ingenuity and decision-making responsibility.
  • Participate in project work related to material acquisitions, where you shall assist with the preparation of requirements specifications, contribute with supplier follow-up and prepare technical documentation in connection with the project work.
  • Participate in relevant national and international conferences, as well as in training TEMPEST technicians and security personnel through practical demonstrations of TEMPEST attacks/eavesdropping and defense.
  • Advise and guide security administrations and security authorities in the preparation of design and installation documentation where TEMPEST equipment is used, and in connection with TEMPEST equipment procurements.
  • Advise and troubleshoot EMC problems.

You should expect travel activity of about 15-30 days per year, in connection with task solving in both domestic and international contexts.

You have a fixed workplace in Korsør and due to the sensitive nature of the work, there will be limited possibility for home working.

About you

We imagine that you have a technical educational background, for example within electronics or perhaps you are an engineer. You have an accredited TEMPEST training, which is approved by the Danish Defence Intelligence Service.

You have a willingness to solve technical challenges and can express yourself precisely both in writing and orally in Danish as well as in English, at a high technical level.

You naturally take initiative and feel comfortable with a daily routine where there is not a long way from drawing board to practical measurement.

You are practically and theoretically well-founded in the following topics

  • AM, FM and other modulation forms
  • Bandwidth
  • Aliasing
  • Intermediate frequency
  • dBuV
  • Signal/Noise ratio
  • Signal analysis

In addition, it is expected that you have a driver's license (B), but it would be advantageous if you hold a larger driver's license (C).

Employment terms

You will be employed and remunerated in accordance with the applicable collective agreement at any given time.

Depending on your qualifications and competencies, there is a possibility of negotiating allowances. There is an employer-funded pension scheme attached to the position.

The workplace is in Korsør.

As an employee within the Ministry of Defence's domain, you are subject to some special terms. You must, among other things, be security cleared and maintain the security clearance for the duration of the employment.

You as an employee have a duty to render service outside the country, including units in international operations with a view to participation in conflict prevention, peacekeeping, peacemaking, humanitarian and other similar operations.

About the Ministry of Defence's Materiel- and Procurement Agency

The Ministry of Defence's Materiel- and Procurement Agency (FMI) is Denmark's central authority for the armed forces' and emergency services' materiel, IT and cyber security in peace, crisis and war. We work to ensure that the entire defense is equipped, updated and operational — in a time when the demands for speed and combat power have never been greater. It is us who procure, operate and dispose of materiel and IT for the Army, Navy, Air Force and the rest of the Ministry of Defence's group.

It is our IT staff who daily help avert the cyberattacks the organization is exposed to. We are a diverse organization with about 2,500 employees — civilian and military — spread across the entire realm.
