About the job

Do you want to help ensure that the Army's soldiers can communicate securely and effectively when it matters?

The Defence and thus also the Ministry of Defence's Materiel and Procurement Agency (FMI) is at the center of a significant development with major investments in Denmark's security. Therefore we are looking for a new colleague for the Communications Section within the Land Division with an engineering-technical background in computer technology, electronics or related engineering disciplines.

You may be a recent graduate or have experience – the most important is that you have good technical understanding, are curious and eager to use and develop your professional skills in working with the Defence's communication systems.

About us

In the Communications Section you will be part of a team of 14 colleagues with different professional backgrounds and areas of responsibility. Together with the rest of the Land Division and FMI, we work to secure innovative solutions for the benefit of the Army and the Defence's other land-based units, including among others the special operations forces, the Home Guard and the Danish Emergency Management Agency.

We work closely with users, suppliers and the Defence Command to find solutions that work in practice. We do not develop the equipment ourselves, but largely procure ready-developed systems and components. These are integrated and linked in collaboration with our suppliers, as well as other FMI sections, to the overall systems used in the Defence.

We place emphasis on high professionalism and expertise in the work and offer great flexibility in both task execution and scheduling of your working hours.

Your professional and personal development we value highly and we are aware that we achieve the most when we work together. In the Communications Section we have a real sense of cohesion, where we support each other crosswise, even though we each have individual areas of responsibility.

"It gives a great professional satisfaction to contribute to the solutions that ensure that the Defence has the necessary communication systems, so they are able to carry out their operational tasks." Casper, Communications Section.

There will be periods with many diverse tasks, but as a rule we want to secure a good balance between work and family. We therefore offer the possibility of arrangements for days with home working.

Travel activity is to be expected, corresponding to about 20 days per year, to workshops and suppliers domestically and abroad, as well as to Defence authorities located across the country.

About the position

With reference to the section chief, you will be responsible for parts of the tactical communication system used by the Army and other land-based units.

Your main tasks will be

  • Technical development and capacity development: This includes RF planning, as well as integration with the networks of the communication systems and network security.
  • Operations from cradle to grave: You will be responsible for the overall operation of tactical communication equipment. In the coming years there is a focus on implementing new systems, which require deliveries of materiel, both physical, and registration in our ERP system. Furthermore the task includes ensuring technical documentation for users and professional staff, as well as training of both groups.
  • Projects and system integration: You contribute technical knowledge to the section's and others' projects, for example in relation to system integration, including providing technical documentation.
  • Advice and collaboration: You advise and consult with colleagues, users and external actors, such as internal technical case handlers, as well as other nations' case handlers, in connection with opportunities for joint task solving.

In addition you may potentially become a representative in NATO working groups, after you have gained experience, if this interests you.

Depending on your qualifications and competences, the position's area of responsibility can over time be adapted to also include parts of the section's other materiel.

About you

You are a trained engineer – and you can be either a recent graduate or have experience.

As you will engage in cooperation and dialogue with users, internal workshops and external partners, it is important that you have good communication skills orally and in writing in Danish and English.

We value that you

  • Have a good technical understanding and interest in radiocommunication, networks and technical systems.
  • Can combine theory and practice
  • Can work independently and at the same time thrive with professional sparring and collaboration
  • Are curious and eager to dive into new technologies and problems
  • Can communicate technical problems in a clear and understandable way to different audiences
  • Can communicate both orally and in writing in Danish and English

It is an advantage, but not a requirement, if you have experience with

  • RF technology, radio communication and communications networks
  • The Defence's tactical communication systems and their use
  • Technical equipment responsibility, system integration or maintenance of technical systems
  • Project work (PRINCE2)
  • ERP systems such as DeMARS (SAP).

You do not need to know the Defence's systems or workflows beforehand. We place emphasis on your technical foundation, your approach to tasks and your willingness to learn.

We do not expect you to tick off everything. If you can see yourself in the tasks and want to develop professionally together with us, we would be glad to hear from you.

Employment terms

The employment is governed by the current collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and a number of academic organizations for academics in the state (Academic Collective Agreement).

Depending on your qualifications and competences, there is a possibility for negotiating allowances. There is an employer-financed pension scheme attached to the position.

The workplace is in Ballerup.

As an employee under the Ministry of Defence, you are subject to certain special conditions. You must, among other things, be able to obtain and maintain security clearance throughout the employment.

As an employee you are obliged to perform service outside the country, including at units in international operations with a view to participation in conflict preventive, peacekeeping, peace enforcement, humanitarian and other similar operations.

Contact and application

If you want to know more about the position, you are welcome to contact section chief Ulrich Garde on telephone 2555 1327.

If you have questions about salary and employment terms, you are welcome to contact the Personnel Command, HR Consultant Mia Backhausen on telephone 3266 5574.

The application deadline is November 5, 2026. The employment start date is as soon as possible.

You apply for the position via the link in the advertisement. Please attach your application, CV and educational certificates. Note that attachments can only be uploaded in PDF format.

In the Ministry of Defence's organisation we believe that diversity optimizes task solving. Therefore we encourage all interested regardless of background to apply for the position.

About the Ministry of Defence's Materiel and Procurement Agency

The Ministry of Defence's Materiel and Procurement Agency (FMI) is Denmark's central authority for the armed forces and emergency services' materiel, IT and cyber security in peacetime, crisis and war. We work to ensure that the entire defence is equipped, up-to-date and operational — in a time when the demands for speed and combat power have never been greater. It is us who procure, operate and dispose of materiel and IT for the Army, Navy, Air Force and the rest of the Ministry of Defence's group.

It is our IT staff who daily help mitigate the cyber-attacks the group is exposed to. We are a diverse organisation with around 2,500 employees — civilian and military — distributed across the whole Kingdom.
