About the job
The Interdisciplinary Youth Team seeks a colleague
Unique opportunity to become part of the Municipality of Aarhus' Interdisciplinary Youth Team, IPS consultant with a cross-disciplinary focus across the employment and social sectors
You now have the opportunity to become part of Aarhus Municipality's Interdisciplinary Youth Team.
We are looking for a new colleague, 37 hours per week, with a strong social-work background and preferably with extensive experience working with vulnerable youths between 15-29 years old and very preferably with a basis in the Child Act and/or the Social Services Act.
As this is a project funded via Ungeløft funds, it is a time-limited 2-year position until December 2028 with the possibility of extension.
Expected start date 1 December 2026 or as soon as possible.
Short about the Interdisciplinary Youth Team
We have established in Aarhus Municipality the Interdisciplinary Youth Team, which started in November 2025 and runs provisionally until December 2028.
The team is part of Ungeløftet, and thus has an implicit employment-focused orientation, aiming to help young people into work and education. The purpose of the team composition is to create an even more holistic, coordinated and individually tailored effort, as well as bringing the ability to act as close to the young people as possible.
The team consists of a total of 9 IPS consultants with different professional backgrounds (employment professionals, social professionals and addiction/psychiatric professionals) and 1 department head. In addition, there are 4 employees with psychiatric qualifications attached to the team. All IPS consultants work with authority on Employment, the Social Services Act and the Child Act, and thus have a large toolbox that enables all kinds of actions very close to the young person.
Target group
The target group for the project is youths aged 15-29 who struggle with complex challenges beyond unemployment. This may include general distress, social problems and various mental and physical health challenges. More concretely, the initiative is targeted at young people who have a clear need for a strong, coordinated and holistic approach across the professional areas represented in the team.
Your tasks as a staff member in the Interdisciplinary Youth Team will be twofold
- You must use your core professional expertise to ensure that authority-related tasks in your area comply with the law and to equip your colleagues with relevant knowledge from your own field.
- You must, together with a partner, act as the overall coordinator for some of the youths in the team and thus have the overall responsibility for the authority tasks these youths need help with. This does not mean that you and your partner must solve the tasks yourself, but you are responsible for finding those who can help solve the tasks if you cannot yourself.
Core professional competencies
We imagine that you
- Have knowledge of working with vulnerable citizens and how they can be helped with social interventions
- Have solid knowledge of social-law (Child Act and Social Services Act) and are able to convey this to colleagues with a different professional background.
- Have experience in having authority responsibility and are trained to make decisions on a legal basis.
- Have experience with case flow in social cases, including preparing screenings, assessments, child welfare and social investigations, handling notifications, initiating supportive actions, and following up on them.
- Are focused on the relational aspect with the young people, and on involving the young person in their own case
- Have experience with parent cooperation and network involvement
- Have good written competencies.
- Must use your core professional expertise to ensure that social authority tasks in the team comply with the law.
Personal competencies
We imagine that you
- Are educated as social worker/social facilitator or have another relevant educational background.
- Are brave, and dare to challenge yourself and be in the feeling of professional inadequacy.
- Have solid relational competences and are genuinely open and curious about others’ perspectives – both regarding the youths and your colleagues.
- Have strong bridging competencies and are prepared to enter into a committed collaboration with other disciplines across the employment, social, substance use and psychiatry sectors.
- Have strong communication skills and are able to explain your core professional expertise to your colleagues.
- Have the desire and courage to join a cross-disciplinary setup that involves solving tasks linked to other professional areas than your own.
IPS consultant
All authority staff in the team become IPS consultants. In broad terms, an IPS consultant works to support youths with mental health conditions in entering work or education. An IPS consultant thus has authority on the Employment Act. The special aspect of an IPS consultant is that the person works according to the IPS method, which is based on the following 8 principles:
- No exclusion – everyone who wants to work should have the opportunity to receive an IPS offer.
- Collaboration with psychiatry – an integrated part of psychiatric treatment.
- The goal is employment in the ordinary labor market/education.
- Guidance on social benefits and work.
- Rapid job searching.
- Support during employment lasts as long as there is a need (unlimited post-support).
- Takes the young person’s preferences and choices as a starting point.
- Collaborates with local employers.
As an IPS consultant in the team, you will receive an IPS basic education. This education is taken over 2 course days.
You should apply to become part of the team if
- You want to join a cross-disciplinary setup that values your social work, and at the same time is willing to tackle parts of tasks that relate to other professional areas.
- You would like to have colleagues who are highly engaged, professionally strong and who, with care, dare to challenge each other about how to work.
- You are willing to challenge yourself both in terms of professional tasks and professional perspectives.
- You would like to be part of a workplace with a high ceiling, trust and willingness to take risks as a basic mindset.
- You enjoy working with youths who have complex challenges.
