About the job

Do you want a part-time job where you both take responsibility, have contact with many people, and become a visible and meaningful part of everyday life at our school?

At Randers Social- og Sundhedsskole we are looking for two committed and service-minded staff for our canteen. We envision a primary canteen assistant averaging about 20 hours per week and a canteen assistant averaging about 10 hours per week.

The positions may be ideal for you if, for example, you are a senior and would like to maintain a connection to the labour market, but of course everyone is welcome to apply.

More than a canteen job

The canteen is a natural meeting place at the school, and we want it to contribute to a good and vibrant study environment. Therefore we are not just looking for someone who can sell food and coffee.

We are looking for you who want to be a part of the school's life, who meets our students and staff with interest and good humor, and who has a sense of how the canteen can help create a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere in the building.

You will also have a high degree of independence and responsibility to ensure the daily operation runs smoothly.

Your tasks

The tasks will include

  • set up the canteen in the morning and arrange the breakfast breads
  • prepare bake-off and prepare goods for the day's sale
  • sell breakfast, lunch, drinks, etc.
  • ensure good service and a welcoming atmosphere
  • enure tidying, light cleaning and good hygiene
  • preparation of orders for internal catering (meetings, closures, etc.)
  • keep an eye on stock and order goods
  • handle smaller administrative tasks related to the daily canteen operation.

The primary canteen employee will have somewhat more responsibility for the ongoing coordination and operation of the canteen.

Working hours and flexibility

The normal working hours are primarily on weekdays between 7:30 and 13:00.

The two employees generally split the days and therefore do not normally work at the same time. However, you should be able to cover for each other during holidays, illness and other absence.

This also means that the hours, approximately 20 and 10, should be seen as an average. Some weeks there may be a need for more hours and in other weeks fewer.

The school also has a few events – typically 4–6 times a year – where we may need help in the canteen outside the normal working hours, often in the afternoon. Therefore it is important that you have some flexibility.

Who are you?

The most important for us is not whether you have previously worked in a canteen. We place greater weight on you:

  • are reliable and responsible
  • can work independently and take responsibility for getting things done
  • are service-minded and enjoy daily contact with many different people
  • want to get to know our students and staff and become part of the school's everyday life
  • have an eye for order, quality and good hygiene
  • can handle small administrative tasks, including stock ordering
  • are flexible and prepared for working hours to vary a little from week to week
  • want to take ownership of the canteen together with your colleague and help make it a nice place to meet.

Experience from canteen, cafe, shop or similar is of course an advantage, but not a requirement.

You must have a hygiene certificate. If you do not already have one, we will ensure you get it in connection with the employment.

We offer

An independent and meaningful part-time job with a lot of contact and the opportunity to put your own mark on everyday life in the canteen.

You will become part of a school with many students, course participants and staff in the building – and we hope that you want not only to work at the school but also to become part of the school.

Start date: as soon as possible, but no later than November 1

Application deadline: Wednesday, October 21, 2026 at 12:00

We will hold interviews: Monday, October 26, 2026 (morning)

Employment will be in accordance with the applicable agreement between the Ministry of Finance and 3F (kitchen assistant) or the Kost- og Ernæringsforbundet (kitchen assistant).

Please mention in your application whether you are primarily interested in the position of about 20 hours or the position of about 10 hours per week .

We encourage all qualified applicants regardless of age, gender, religion or ethnic background to apply for the position.

If you have questions about the positions, you are welcome to contact Chief Financial and Administrative Officer John Strøm by phone

We look forward to hearing from you.
