Tollund School is a district school with two sites located in the western part of Silkeborg Municipality. The school has about 750 students, distributed with about 650 at the Funder department and about 100 at the Kragelund department. In addition, we have a large after-school and club area at both departments as well as an inclusion center and special classes.

At Tollund School's Kragelund department, we are looking for a dedicated practical helper with start 1 January.

The Kragelund department is only 10 km from Silkeborg town center, and the school is, among other things, characterized by a very close collaboration around the classes and the students in general, as well as the very unique outdoor facilities, which include a mountain bike track, a sports hall, an outdoor swimming pool, nice playgrounds and a multi-court, forest just a stone's throw away and much more.

The Kragelund department is part of Tollund School, and in Kragelund there are about 100 students spread across 0nd-6th grade. We are a staff group that works closely together about the students across year groups depending on activity – e.g. during combined teaching of some grades, common morning songs every day, friendship classes, reading support, transitional forms and project weeks.

Afd. Kragelund: Practical help for a first-grade student with diabetes (full-time).

As a practical helper you will be a fixed support around a first-grade student. Here you will partly be with the individual student handling the tasks it requires, but you will also have to be a natural part of life and teaching in the class around the other students. You will be part of both the school day and the after-school program.

About the task

• The student's blood glucose will be checked several times an hour and corrected either with carbohydrates or insulin if needed, after which the effect will be closely monitored.
• In connection with activities and meals beyond the normal, it is important to be especially attentive to correction. For example, it is important that the insulin pump is set to "sport/activity" about 30-45 minutes before activity.
• When on a trip, you must be prepared and vigilant to correct any fluctuations.
• Be responsible for contact with the home, with whom you will have close collaboration regarding the student.

To help you get started, the home is ready to assist and support, and it will also be possible to attend courses if this is deemed necessary. Taking on the task does not in itself require special qualifications – just that you want to learn and have the courage to collaborate.

For the position, it applies that, in addition to your primary task as support, you should also be able to take an engaged part in the class's teaching and life in general.
