About the job

Are you good at Understanding others' perspectives, keeping calm in busy situations and do you thrive with varying working hours? If so, you might be our new colleague in Banedanmark's Traffic Information for long-distance and regional train traffic .

We are a team of 25 employees with different backgrounds who work daily in Traffic Control Tower East in Copenhagen. We are organized in a duty function and an information group, and we are typically four employees on duty at a time. In addition to the team in Copenhagen, you will have colleagues in Fredericia.

You will be the voice in the speakers

In Traffic Information Copenhagen we have an important task: We ensure that passengers receive the information they need when train traffic is not running as planned.

We forward information directly to passengers at the long-distance railway stations via loudspeaker announcements and information screens – for example during delays and cancellations. At the same time, we monitor the traffic so that we can be proactive and ensure good customer service.

You will have close collaboration with the employees responsible for the operation of the rail traffic across the country. In other words, you go right into the railway's engine room and you will play a central role in keeping passengers informed.

”One of the things I value most about working in Traffic Information is the varied daily life. It can relate to different traffic situations I need to convey to passengers, but also to having a versatile workday with shifting hours. I enjoy a workday where I both make a difference for passengers and have the opportunity to chat with my colleagues when traffic allows.”

Tells Elisabeth, who since February 2022 has been employed in The Common Traffic Information.

A weekday where no two days are the same

We are looking for more colleagues who thrive with flexible shifts and a workday that can have a high variation in workload.

The day shifts are typically around 8 hours and consist of morning shifts around 05:30–14:35 and evening shifts around 14:00–22:30. Additionally, you will work approximately every third weekend in 12-hour shifts in the period 06:00–21:00.

Shifts are evenly distributed over a 16-week rolling schedule with an average of 37 hours per week, which means that some weeks will have fewer hours and others more.

It is therefore important that you consider whether the working hours fit your daily life and your family life.

When train traffic runs as planned, the workload is low, and there is time for sparring and camaraderie with colleagues. When incidents such as signaling faults, faults on track switches or pedestrian incidents occur, the workload can quickly become high. Here we work focused and efficiently to help passengers and each other.

Therefore you must be able to switch between calm and high tempo – sometimes several times during the same working day.

We are looking for you who

  • Communicates clearly and attentively – you can convey information simply and clearly in both Danish and English, orally as well as in writing.
  • Keeps an overview under pressure – you can quickly assess a situation, prioritize information and act when traffic does not go as planned.
  • Handles pressure with an overview – you can navigate a busy workday and respond appropriately when the workload increases.
  • Keeps the customer at the center – you can put yourself in the passengers’ situation and convey information that is relevant and creates security.
  • Has good teamwork spirit and picks up new tasks quickly – you work well with others, are familiar with IT and want to learn new systems and a complex subject area.

Your educational background is less decisive. Experience with customer service and knowledge of rail traffic – ex. as an employee or as a train passenger.

You will work with several different internal programs for railway operation and sit at a workplace with eight screens. You do not need to know the systems beforehand. The most important is that you are eager and able to learn something new.

You will be thoroughly trained

We know that the job requires both professional knowledge and practical experience. Therefore you receive a long and thorough practice period with primary side-by-side training from an experienced colleague.

You will thus be well equipped to handle both the daily traffic and the situations where it suddenly becomes intense.

Salary and employment terms

We hire on an ongoing basis and expect to start on January 1, February 1 or March 1, 2027. The specific start date will be agreed with the individual candidate and our planning.

You are employed according to the currently applicable Fællesoverenskomst between the Ministry of Finance and Public Employees Organization – The Civil Service Area (OAO-S joint agreement) and the collective agreement for office clerks, laboratory technicians, and IT staff.

The position is in principle placed in salary group 3 step 1 for the Capital, according to the applicable agreement, which you can find here and the Salary overview for Employees and Competence Board, which you can find here .
